hi al I have just bought this GPs from ALDI here in the UK. it has come with UK and Ireland maps pre installed. I want to use the system when I go on holiday to Australia. clearly I need Aussie maps. Medion don't have any nor does NAVIGON. I've contacted MIO who make the thing in the first place and they can't help either. it operates on windows CE4.2 and navigon 5.1
Now TOMTOM do make aussie maps that are available to buy in australia. so the question is can my system be modified to read TOMTOM maps. if so how do I do it. any ideas??? |

managed to persuade a friend with a TomTom users account to buy TT aussie maps for me. cost me £127.00 for the maps and £50 for a 1gb SD card to put it on. I still have no idea on how to convert the medion unit to read the TT maps. anyone got an idiots guide with a step by step "how to" ??? |

Hi there,
Found these in previous posts: -
It will run tt, no problems. but you need to get the tt setup.exe file. I have seen tt on ebay for about 40.00 but I have been reluctant to spend, incase the setup.exe will be the wronge one. No good getting tt startup.exe as this is a totally diff. file.
To install tomtom on your pna you have to modify the file tomtomnavigator.cab because your PNA is not a compatible platform. You have only to delete the setup.dll in it. i explain it in the link below. Sorry it's in french. http://www.teaser.fr/~vdisanzo/xania/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=338&Itemid=29
Now, I could probably translate the French, but it might not be word perfect! Let me know after you've taken a look, if you want me to go to the pain-staking effort of translating it! |

hi I've had a look but as i only understand english and german (although i'm a jock) I'm cluless. As I've explained in earlier posts i havent even opened the box on my medion yet in the vain hope that if I can't find a bullet proof method first, i can return it. so I'm still digging. now I'm on talk talk free broadband forever I can dig deeper for longer. somewhere some boffin will have the answer. if not I'll have to buy a TT in Oz. only three weeks left before I go. |

BOOTNECK if you send the medion back and buy tt in oz it will have aussie maps which you already have.so why not have a go to convert your existing machine it just needs a bit of patience _________________ ipaq 4150 on powered cradle with tt6
