Help please
I have recently bought a new 1Gb high speed SD card. I have successfully loaded all the UK Maps and all the european maps that I need. I have 200Mb free on the card. Acquisition of sats is fine as is navigation....all working as it should.
Today I decided to load the April POIs which I have saved in my Navman folder on my computer. I followed the usual procedure and on each completion of the 'Save to Device' I got the usual message "Saved to device". However, when I look on the 510 there are no POIs shown in My POIs. If I navigate to a point away from home covering the route where I know cameras to be, none are shown.
Where have they gone This is puzzling me - anyone had a similar experience
Just to make sure, I repeated the whole procedure, still without success.
Finally, I have looked at the SD card contents and would have expected to see a folder called My POIs but there is not one - there is the POI folder but from memory, I thought there was also a second folder for mine Certainly, there is no sign of the uploaded files. _________________ Gee-Pee

I have just deleted all POI on my iCN510 and downloaded / installed the current Speed Camera database, having just checked it on the road its fine, picks up the cameras etc as it should do, perhaps your download is corrupted, try re-downloading and re-installing. (The file I used was the single file version - Mike |

Thanks Mike, will try but I am using the database which I downloaded at the beginning of this month and installed it successfully on my old SD card. Still it could have got corrupted subsequently - so I will try.
Similarly, thanks Richard. I'll also have a look at the link and see if that helps. _________________ Gee-Pee

OK, I have achieved the aim of installing My POIs on my machine. However, try as I might, I could not do it the conventional way. I re-downloaded the Consolidated file again and tried installing and although I am told its successful, the POIs still do not appear on the Navman. I then looked on the new card and found there was no folder labeled MYPOI which the other folders had, so I created a new folder. Still no luck.
I then copied and pasted the folder from the smaller SD card which I have been using up to now and that does work.
I have checked the date of the (now loaded) data and it appears to be January's download - so what has happened to Feb and March I know I have loaded them and have relied on the ostensible confirmation of the success of the loading to the device, but it appears that has been false.
Any suggestions _________________ Gee-Pee

All I did was to download the Speed Cameras, unzip to a known folder on the desktop of the PC, then used the Navman Smart ST Desk top software to upload the POI file to the iCN-510, (I did use the SD card reader but only to delete the POI files on the card, not the folder, for the install I used the Smart ST with the iCN pluged into the PC on USB - slow but it works).
To be honest I used the guide from this site as its some time since I messed around with the Navman, and the grey matter has other things in it at the moment - so I reverted to the guide, it all worked fine, I hope this helps a little - Mike |

Thanks, Mike. Did the same as you. I always use the guide from the site as my retentive powers also have other priorities. Very curious as to where the files actually go - if anywhere. They are certainly not on the SD card as I've done a search in all the card's folders. One clue could be the speed with which they actually 'save to device': its instant, but then the files are very tiny. I'll have a go using my laptop which is quite slow.... _________________ Gee-Pee

Well it certainly wasn't "instant" on my device, the Smart ST took about 4 mins before reporting the required file size and avail space on the device (to be honest I thought the PC had locked up but gave it a while made a brew etc.), after that the transfer took aprox 7 seconds, I have just pulled the card put it into a card reader and the files transfered are located in Navman/ My POI - Hope this might help - Mike |
