I've picked up a TOMTOM GO and i've just got the UNIT and CAR Charger, Oviously I want to update it, and I relize I would need the latest Version of Software plus the latest Maps, If you download the Newest Software Update via TOMTOM it says it will ask for product key, which is apparently on the CD's you get with it or on a card, oviosly I have nether. Help. What exactly do I need at the Moment I have app 4.420 and maps v390. I dont even know what tomtom go it is but I think it's a 300 it says 32mb RAM on info screen. |

Ask the seller to provide you with the product key, or return the device. _________________ Lutz

It's what is fondly known as a 'Classic'. _________________ Richard

look at the bottom of the connector and report what's written there.
Alternatively, power it off, then press and hold the power button. It will tell you on the screen what it is. _________________ Lutz

I've been messing about, yesterday I installed the latest software from the TomTom site, this made a big difference however I did not have full postcode search. Today I grabed my mates tomtom 300 and copied his hile sd card to mine after backing up mine. nothing worked i.e I got a new warning screen about driving while looking at the satnav or something but the maps were locked i.e it asked for activation code. So I put my old map data back on the SD card and istalled the software update again, still same old map data oviosly but know i've got full postcode search, that's weird because I had updated the software before messing about with mates maps and had no full postcode facility before. Any ideas whats changed i.e is there a postcode part in version 5 that did not copy before or something. Also the satnav I have know is my mates old one so I no it's not stolen however he has no codes for it as it's a few years old know and he's lost them, is there any way I can still get an activation code if I buy the map upgrades. Surely other people lose there product cards? By the way it's definetly a tomtom classic i'm a bit disapointed because he said it was a 300 and I paid him £120 because I thought a second hand 300 was worth this however a classic has no bluetooth so i'm a bit disapointed. |

After looking at the price of maps plus the fact I might have a hard time activating them. I wish I had saved a bit longer now and bought a new tomtom 300,500,700 as the hassle of buying a second hand one with older maps has made me depressed, i'm happy with the device in terms that it works well and I can do what I need but better, updated maps would have been a big inprovment, plus the screen has a scratch on it that seems to be very expensive to replace. Perhaps you might see it on ebay soon. |
