Although I have unzipped your download and can easily locate your .csv files -after I define the correct directory for the loader to load from; the Garmin POI loader comes up with an error insisting that there are no data files in that directory and asks to specify a directory with at least one .csv file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled loader and the same still happens. Any ideas???
thanks again |

Hi,
Newbie here. I've got a Garmin iQue 3600 which having signed up & downloaded the csvs/bmps etc into a specific folder, ran PoiLoader, & dumped the resulting "poi" folder containing poi.gpi file onto my SDA as it would only detect that & not the GPS unit, it still fails to work.
No POIs on my unit.
Ideas? |

Hi Guys,
We're stumped on this so far
Have you downloaded the .csv files from the Garmin section of the speed camera download?
What version of POILoader are you using?
Are you loading the full speed zoned files or just the POILoader ones? _________________ Robert Brady |

Garmin do not support POILoader on the iQue 3600.

Hi guys,
I'm in fact just off the phone to Garmin, who confirm that POIloader does not indeed work with the 3600. Carp.
I worked through the above thread earlier, but no joy as yet. I tried both versions of the database, but same result. Garmin are sending me a lengthy e-mail they have, which the guy says may help. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

Having now got the e-mail -and cross-referring it to theabove suggested thread - it says:-
Contained in the August 2005 database are 6994 camera locations. Within the downloaded file are many different types of file. I select [single file version - gpx file - pocketgps_uk_sc] this is a GPX file approx. 4018KB.
You need to have the 'free' Garmin MapSource installed on your PC. Current version is 6.8.0 although the beta version of 6.9.0 is available]
http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp
Having installed Mapsource, select the file [pocketgps_uk_sc] It will open up very slowly to show 6994 camera locations. Save and rename your .gpx database.
What I don't understand is where the gpx file comes from. I've downlaoded both available files under the "Garmin" entry, but they contain either one or a number of .csv and .bmp files.
??

Hi MikeB I have loaded the camera datd base on my Garmin nuvi 350. I have the system set to Statute (as opposed to metric ), but the banner that states the camera speed setting ie 40 is changed to 25. The unit seems to think that 40 was kilometers and translates it to miles . Help !

Hi
We've got to the stage where we've downloaded the speed camera database onto our Garmin Nuvi 300 and can get it to direct us to the speed cameras but how do we set it so it will alert us when a speed camera is near?
Thanks |

Hi Rob
Thanks for your reply. I tried this and it works - stripped out all the @and the figure after! Bob's your Uncle! Or Rob, as the case may be!
We are obviously very green. We are getting really confused with Tom Tom, I3 and all the other different flavours of Garmin - does the advice work for all of them the same way? |

Hi AVJ,
If you look closely you will find that the files are indeed csv files. The default application to open them is Excel, which is why they look like Excel files.
This is exactly what you should see. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Garmin Streetpilot i3.
Well I have downloaded - fiddled and faddled - deleted - dowloaded again. Inspected files and found several "blocked" and unblocked them.
Still no joy.
I am no expert when it comes to messing about with the internal working of files and have been grateful for all those "click twice" and it just happens.
This lot has almost reduced me to tears - why, oh why, can't I do it????
My Poiloader just refuses to play the game - it should be so simple to just get it to work and do the job but when I ask it to run I hear a grumble from the 'puter workings box and then - nothing. No nice screen assuring me that the Poiloader will effortlessly download all those lovely CSV files I bought so I can hold onto my driving licence for as long as possible and avoid nasty fines and interviews with strange (police)men.
I have unzipped and the files sit there in a little place of their own but my Poiloader just ignores them and me. I have hit rock bottom. I need rescueing.
Anyone out there with a lifebelt? |
