I have a Haicom HI-202e Usb that i originally purchased for my laptop, i now use navman 3400 and tomtom navigator on my ipaq.
I was wondering if it would be possible to convert the usb plug on the haicom reciever to fit an ipaq, as far as i know it uses the same chipset as the pda version reciever and runs at the same voltage, does anyone have any info on how to convert it or can i simply buy a cable ready made?
Thanks in advance... _________________ In The Land Of The Blind The One Eyed Man Is King! |

There's no easy way to do this - you'd have to disassemble the module, find and remove the serial to USB chip, then add interface circuitry to what's left to make it RS232 compatible (the chances are internally it operates at TTL voltages - so you'd need to add something like a MAX232 chip).
In other words - it's really not worth it. A GPS mouse with a proper laptop cable can be bought so cheaply as to make this kind of exercise not worth the effort. The added expense of the GPS mouse and cable is offset by the fact that it acts as a car charger for your iPAQ as well as a GPS.
