Reading some bad experience with a compatibility of SD-502 in some forums I'd like to ask, if you have some experience / information about compatibility of SD-502 with Qtek 9090.
I did not find it in any compatibility list.
Thanks

That is an error on the GlobalSat site. It doesnnot work with the MDA or the M500 or other variations of the device. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I've just bought an SD-502 receiver. Could one of you guys please explain how to make the device work on an hp iPaq 4700? I've installed 2 files GPSinfo.exe and GlobalSatSDGPS.exe. Both show as removable programs. GPSInfo launches. And then what? The hardware does not appear to come with an user manual of any form so I'm a bit lost as to what all the COM ports are for. I don't want it to communicate with the PC (or anything else), I just want it to find satellites. Start GPS or Cold Start appear to do nothing. The steady green light remains - well - steady!
Ideas? TIA

I'm having similar problems to the last poster - unit is installed on an rx3715 using the latest driver, seems to be on Com7 and I get a static green light whenever it is plugged in. I've tried a variety of utilities but never seem able to get a fix on my position - a few times I've picked up a number of satellites but that's it.
I've left it running while sitting outside (no buildings closer than 40 feet) for more than half an hour and still nothing. Anyone got any tips?
Thanks in advance |

This sounds like a faulty device. If it has power which it has it should get a fix pretty quickly and a reasonably strong one at that. If you have had it outside and constantly powered for 30 minutes with no obstructions then something is very wrong. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Mike, there seems to be a reliability issue with some of these SD-502 devices.
My first one worked for the best part of 3 months until for some unknown reason the SD card opened up along the seam whilst in use. It was returned and replaced with another unit.
After 3 weeks or more I have still not been able to get a data stream, even though it is installed correctly, and the green light is flashing after a couple of minutes. The SD card is seen as a GPSDisk, TomTom is on there, com port is set at 7 as was the previous one but not a single sat fix. This one has now been returned as well. _________________ Graham.

This is worrying. I will bring it to the attention of the GlobalSat R&D department. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Thanks Mike, it seems a few others have got SD-502's that have shown a flashing green light indicating they have a fix but no Sats showing in the various programs that should be showing a data stream, perhaps it could just be down to a faulty production batch.
Returned the last one last tuesday to Matt at Easydevices who said he had an XDA 2s to try it on so will wait and see what he comes back with. _________________ Graham.
