|
|
Hi all,
Hoping someone can answer this for me, i have hunted high and low for info on the Net about this!
I have the HP Ipaq HX 2190 combined with Tom Tom Navigator 5 (excellent combo very very pleased with it) My question is can i make this GPRS/GSM enabled? I have read somewhere about a Jacket/Sleeve a Ipaq slots into to add GPRS/GSM connectivity?
If not is there any other way i can make my 2190 GPRS/GSM enabled?
I work for NTL who supply us with cumbersome Laptops we have to drag around everywhere with us The software on the Laptop we use in the field also comes in PDA format...
We use the laptop to start and finish jobs as well as e-mails etc via GPRS/GSM
You guessed it I would love to use my PDA to do my job which fits nicely in my pocket rather than lugging around a big heavy Laptop!
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
P.S Excellent Site, very very impressive |

you can get a CompactFlash GPRS card which effectivley turns the PDA into a phone. Google for "CF GPRS" and you'll find a few manufacturers.
you could also just pair your PDA with your mobile phone to get internet access. |

Thanx m8,
I wondered what that slot was for in the top of my PDA dohh!
I thought it was just for more memory or something, didn't realise you could add stuff like GPRS CF cards!
I Googled like you said and found a few but wow! didn't realise they would be so expensive
Cheapest i have found at the moment is a Enfora GPRS/GSM CF Card £140+ inc VAT
If anyone could post me a few links with anything a little bit cheaper that would be great
Thanx in advance |

thats probably the average price. have a look on ebay to see if you can get cheaper.
theres two slots on the top of your iPAQ. the small one is the SD slot which can accept memory cards and SDIO expansion devices such as Wifi and Bluetooth cards. The large slot is the CF slot which also accepts memory cards and as you now know expansion devices as well. |
