have already gone back to beta 2.82
2.9 was , stuttery, screen freeze happy and locked me out on more than one occasion.
i am sure it also reduced the accuracy in waas/egnos setting.

beta and i | If anyone is getting problems can you all make sure you let Garmin know. I have told them of my 2.9 woes I guess the more they hear the more likely they are to do something about it. 2.82 was better than 2.7... 2.9 is not looking so hot!!! I would roll back but I use the custom POI stuff quite a lot.
Looking forward to getting this fixed ASAP. |

Nuts. Yesterday was good. Very good. Prompts are much better, i3 seems to update a bit better.
Today one white screen - had to remove batteries in the end and one lock up later.
Bummer....
Time to e-mail Garmin. Plus the alphabet picker on the right of the screen when you select country is irritating because i got used to it not being there with 2.7.... |

Just updated to 2.90 and noticed the occasional white screen but also something else. At the start of any journey from home I have the choice of turning left then right onto a main road or right then left onto a main road. I normally turn right then left because it is easier to join the main road but the i3 always tells me to turn left. This was never a problem with 2.70 since my route would be recalculated before I reached the left turn but with 2.90 the i3 refuses to even recognise that I have deviated from it’s chosen route. The map position on the screen is correct and it obviously is not following the red line and I do not get any route guidance until I rejoin the red route line a little further into the journey. When this first happened I thought it might just be an isolated incident but now it has occurred on both journeys since I updated. I think I will definitely roll back to 2.70. |

I noticed this problem of the arrow being in the right place but the red line on another road. Corrected itself when the routes converged. Yesterday 2.9 worked with no problems so not sure what to do now. Had only had the unit a coupleof days when I saw the upgrade. Assumed it was the natural thing to do but hadn't had enough experience of 2.7 to say I noticed any improvements with 2.9. All I can say is that directions are given in plenty of time, but I hadn't noticed that being a particular problem with 2.7. Not much use if the screen freezes and you need to check the map before you turn. Have emailed Garmin but have not had a response as yet. Only a couple of days ago so far. Am going to try ringing them today. Will post if I get anywhere. One other thing I think I might have noticed is that my unit has frozen in the same place several times and just after going under a series of underpasses. With2.7 it said it lost sattelite reception then recalculated. 2.9 doesn't lose reception but sometimes freezes after I get back into clear air. Are other peoples freezing experiences linked to areas of poor reception or is it just random? |

Might be worth mailing him directly (probably best not to mention me though... might get me blacklisted)!!! His address is: Luke.Razack@garmin.com Hope this helps to get this fixed. |

Tried 2.9 had similar problems to what people have been reporting above, wish Garmin would test these updates before they release them!
I have gone back to good old reliable version 2.5!, i still think that was the best all round version released so far for the i3, the unit seems quicker and happier with 2.5 than either 2.6 or 2.7 or now even 2.9
Think i'm gunna stick with 2.5 from now on. _________________ Garmin Streetpilot i3,

Spoke to someone at Garmin uk and was told that they are not aware of any problems with 2.9 and haven't heard anything from anyone else. Find that quite difficult to believe. He told me to reload it so I have and will see what happens now. Hopefully it will be fine. As I said earlier it did oerate flawlessly yesterday |

2 white screens and a very slow i3 today. Funny thing is that the banner at the top of the screen ("Road X Ahead" etc) updates ok but the main screen still shows the position 4 streets ago. The speed and compass still work.....
I have my i3 set to "Most" detail. Anyone else? |

Hi,
Installed v 2.9 via the web updater as soon as it was released, but haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces yet.
We are planning a 300 mile round trip tomorrow though, to a couple of remote locations in the heart of Wales, so will be interested to see how it performs 'on route'.
I must say however that it is of some concern to me that so many users on here are reporting problems with the latest firmware version... surely Garmin must test them out in some detail, before releasing a new version... they aren't exactly new to this sort of thing! |
