|

Hi all
I'm thinking of buying a GPS for work usage as I do a lot of travelling and I getting a little fed up with carrying reams of multimap printouts around with me ;) However I can't really justify the cost unless I can somehow download a record of where I've been from the GPS to the PC.
I have to produce a detailed mileage report for my expenses every month and this takes me a long time as it stands. My idea would be to download a record of exactly where I've been every day once a month (more frequently if necessary) and then create my spreadsheet from that.
I have found various blackboxes which will record where you have been but they don't seem to do actual satnav - just purely record. Is there any devices on the market which will do both? i.e. record where I've been and also do routeplanning on a nice colour screen. I've come across a few sites on the Internet that transfer "gps tracklogs" onto maps but I'm not sure which GPS's actually produce tracklogs. A friend has a TomTom Go but I couldn't find anything in the menus about outputting tracklogs.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated - ideally which GPS's support this kind of thing and what program I would need on the PC to process the data.
Thanks
Ollie |

Hi there
Navigon mobile navigator 5 does the job, creates a log of times dates mileage, average speed, top speed etc
but will only log to the destinations entered or to the time its switch off.
and it uses exel so already in a spread sheet
hope this helps |

do any of these pieces of software plot your route like memorymap can? i.e. show you a map of where you have been? |

Thanks for the replies all, got some investigation to do now I'm quite surprised that none of the manufacturers have looked into making this a feature of their system as I'm sure there must be many other people who would like to track where they have been for expenses purposes. |

Don't know if you are still looking but Destinator PN has a facility to record your journey if that helps. _________________ Charlie Gregory
