|
|
I have been trying to update my Garmin i3 with the latest speed cameras.
I have subscribed and the web page recognises my user name & password. The download page http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/downloadcameras.php?idpackage=37
does not appear to be active as I keep getting an error message saying that Internet Explorer was unable to open this internet site. I have been trying now for a couple of days & am now wondering whether your web page is in fact OK but something is wrong my end?
I have quite successfully downloaded the speed cameras in previous months (before subscription started)
Any ideas please |

Have you tried clicking the "Speed Cameras" link to the left of this forum?
I have just downloaded the Garmin database as a test and it worked fine.
Nick. |

Hi Nick,
That is the way that I have been trying to get the download, but at the bottom of the page I get "redirecting to site http//www.pocketgpsworld.com/doenloadcameras.php?idPackage=37 "
and nothing else happens. The mouse cursor becomes the egg timer symbol and stays like that.
This seems to suggest that this page is "down", but you've said that you have not had any problems.
All other activity that I do on the internet is working without any problems
All very strange
So far I have paid my subscription but can't use it

Sorry to hear that your having problems. I've never come across this problem before, but don't worry we WILL get you sorted.
First I just want to make 100% sure that you are using the following link: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
Also, please make sure that you always use the main site www.PocketGPSWorld.com and not a mirror site. Your browser needs to accept cookies from our site. There is an issue (which we are addressing) with cookies when you use a mixture of www.pocketgpsworld.com, pocketgpsworld.com (without the www) and the co.uk sites.
On Internet Explorer you can clear your cookies using Tools/Internet Options/Delete Cookies.
Some ISPs store (cache) web pages so they don't always update immediately. 'Hard' refresh subscription/download page by pressing 'Control' on your keyboard whilst pressing the refresh/reload button on your browser.
Please let me know how you got on. _________________ Robert Brady |

Hi Robert,
I have checked out all the points that you mentioned in your reply( i.e. use the .com address as against the co.uk address. I've also made sure that cookies will be accepted etc) but unfortunately nothing has changed .
Any more ideas please |

Hi, Yes that link is displayed at the bottom of the screen when it is trying to find the speed camera database. ie it says redirecting to that site.
I am running XP professional with Norton anti-virus and zone alarm firewall. I have tried getting the speed cameras database again by disabling both the anti virus & firewall but still no luck

Would I be correct in assuming that you were trying to download the Garmin speedzoned files? I just did that using ie6 under Win XP with no problems. Did you go straight to that link or did you use the selection system from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
Have you tried downloading another format to see if it is just that selection giving you the issues? _________________ Mike Barrett |

Hi,
Yes it is the Garmin speedzoned files that I am trying to download. I have tried going straight to that link & also by using the selection system from
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras . I have tried every possible way that I can think of in trying to download these files but to no avail. For some strange reason it just can't find that page.
I've even tried the links for other types of satnavs & the result is the same.
I've even tried on my son's computer with the same no go response.
Obviously I am getting very frustrated especially as there is no apparent reason for the failure.
Both my son's & my computer use NTL broadband. Could it be perhaps something to do with the isp ? I personally wouldn't have thought so but it just a suggestion
Please come forward with some more suggestions
Regards, Tadworth506 |
