Upgrade carried out Ok, Custom POI's still in subcatagories, so it looks like the 2.82 beta problem has been addressed.
Will take it out for a spin tonight to see if there are any obvious issues

Thanks for that Scoobs... just downloading it now, but it's going very slowly... 18.7 Kb/Sec... and that's on broadband!
They have either got a very slow server, or a lot of other folks are downloading it also.
Ah it's just finished... now to upgrade! |

Changes made from version 2.70 to 2.90:
* Please use WebUpdater to make sure you are using the latest voice guidance.
* Improved address searches to allow for selecting which map to search on when multiple maps are available.
* Improved city searches to search across all available maps.
* Added support for New Zealand regional settings.
* Improved the timing of voice guidance prompts.
* Added support for Czech and Flemish voice guidance (Requires New Audio version).
* Added WebUpdater support for Voice Guidance updates.
* Improved voice guidance for: German, Spanish, and Portuguese (Requires New Audio version).
* Corrected a bug where navigating on a roundabout could cause the unit to lock up.
As per beta 2.82, no space now needed in postcode search

No problem with download. Tried 2.90 on a short journey and works ok, custom POIs and Speed Cameras all displayed correctly. |

I bought 2 of these babys yesterday, and I must say they are fantastic, and new firmware already cool means the support for them is good.
have migrated from a Tom tom enabled PDA (what a mess that makes in the car) and so far I have not missed any of the extra features the Tom tom provides. Ok so it' s only been a day but I have not read a bad thing about this unit.
It has a nice foot print on the dash board too i.e a small one.
Will try the Firmware update any how.
Freaky :D |

went
and for those of you who venture along the a580 east lancs road in lancashire, the switching off or screen freeze at the greyhound roundabout is as it says on the upgrade listing NO MORE !!!
the voice prompts are as per the beta 2.82 ie sooner than 2.7
poi's issue with beta 2.82 has now been sorted into the categories you all craved for from 2.7 etc.
i hope there are no bad points but if so share.
all in all |

Hi,
I think it is very encouraging that Garmin appear to be putting quite a bit of work into providing upgrades, both in the maping as well as the firmware, for what is a relatively (well for most of us anyway!) low cost device.
No doubt, in time, they (or someone else) will bring out a sat-nav unit that is both cheaper and better than the i3 but I for one reckon it was one of the best £100's I have spent recently! |

We'll updated now but woo that was scarey,
when the i3 went into loader mode (just after the firmware had d'loaded) my PC took insult to it and rebooted leaving my i3 locked in loader mode.
but no problem as no erasing or writing had taken place just popped the batteries out and then switched the unit back on and voila it worked thank goodness..!
Have done the update on me laptop now and all is well (will give it a good run over the weekend.
So for anyone else that experience's this don't panic.
