Just came on to update my db and...... wow
After 2 years years of using this site I bid it farewell....
I cannot believe that you are charging for a simple database that you can hit only once a month. There are more reliable dbs out there folks on subscription.
All in all my experiences having driving 55K miles over the past two years have been average to 'OK' when using this database... If I am going to pay no matter how little (£2) or expensive I would at least want regular updates and above all ACCURACY ! Please remove the dead cams.
I knew it was all going down the pan when my nephew pointed out the site to me after it was hyped on top gear. |

sorry you feel like that. Are the dead cameras mobile sites I drive 170+k a year and the accruacy is in my experience is at least 99% acurate the way I look at it I'd rather warned of an unsed mobile site than no warning at all _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Hi shafstar,
I too am sorry that you feel like that.
The PocketGPSWorld camera database has been regularly updated (at least once a month) for a considerable time, as I hope you would know after two years of its use.
If you had submitted any updates (or donated any money) prior to the cut off date then you are entitled to a free lifetime subscription to the PocketGPSWorld camera database. Failing that, if you submit any new/modified/removed fixed cameras then you will also be entitled to a free lifetime subscription.

I too am sorry you feel like that.
Did you not contribute to the database? If you contributed, like thousands of others, we would have given you free membership. I have checked and found no evidence that you have contributed though. I may be mistaken, please feel free to correct me.
Please read the announcement below which I have copied from the homepage:
If you have made a donation to PocketGPSWorld.com through PayPal before this announcement we would like to express our thanks by offering you free lifetime membership. Please email donations@pocketgpsworld.com with your username and the email address that you use for your PayPal account and we will set you up with a free membership. Please note that it will take up to 5 working days to confirm your membership.
Your active subscription will be extended free for life if you report just one previously unreported, deleted or altered static speed camera position. (Must consequently be verified by PocketGPSWorld.com.) We monitor all submissions very carefully and you will be notified if we use your submission. If you are successful we will let you know and automatically extend your current membership. You must be a current member and your account must be active to benefit from this offer.
We have sent emails to those who have already submitted data offering free lifetime membership. If you have submitted data, but not received an email, please email dataalreadysubmitted@pocketgpsworld.com with the following information:
User Name
Full Name
Email address used for submission
Camera(s) sent (with email attachment)
Approximate date camera sent
Sorry, but without this information we will not be able to issue a free subscription. Please note that it will take up to 5 working days to confirm your membership. Important: Please note that your confirmation will state that your 'lifetime' membership will expire in 20 years time. This is purely a system limitation. Your subscription will be extended for life. _________________ Robert Brady |

Depends what you mean by "dead cameras". This database, unlike most others, actually shows you positions where in the past mobile cameras have operated. Of course most of the time they will not be there, but sometimes they will. If you download the single consolidated database you will not be able to discriminate between the fixed sites (which I have always found to be there) and the mobile sites, where camera will be there only occassionally.
The answer is to download the split files, then you will know the difference and be able to judge accordingly.
Of course the other answer is to become part of the community and report all missing cameras. _________________ Peter

Does any one else not see the duality of the original post ?
.. Used the database for 2 years .. driven more than 55K miles ..... felt the database was inaccurate ... AND NEVER contributed to improve it ... talk about "a free ride" 8O |
