This would also mean that the 710 will not be offered in the US. Pretty much in line with the current product offering mix. _________________ Lutz

I was not surprised either that the 710 was only for the UK.
That said, does anyone know why this is? Are all three offered in the UK (510 and 910)? |

TomTom US feel that the larger product choice confuses the US users. They don't offer the TomTom GO 500, TomTom Mobile, and TomTom One either over here. _________________ Lutz

The manual doesn't explain any of the following;
1. Can autozoom be disabled?
2. Can one still navigate to 'point on map' ?
3. Whether there is a simple add poi function such as the functionality provided by Lutz's POI Capture or ScaredyCat's Quickcam?
4. Whether 3rd part apps are supported?
5. Just what exactly the HOME software will do?
Due to very specific work requirments all the above are quite important to me and I was hoping that some of you NDA signees might be more free to comment now that the new products have been officially launched (according to the email this morning from TomTom).

It's not the manual, it's the "Quickstart Guide" |

Andy_P2002. In one of the promotional videos, the narrator says "plan your itineraries with TomTom HOME". See http://www.clubtomtom.com/products/tomtom-go-910-product-demo-video/
I agree that optimised itineraries would be a huge plus, but I think that TomToms stated view is that this feature would be problematic. (ignoring of course that CoPilot and AutoRoute can do it)
If the HOME application can be used to plan an itinerary using a map based interface then we'll be half way there. Not perfect if one is out on the road, but a big step in the right direction if you are able to plan itineraries in advance. A voice prompt saying "You have reached your waypoint" would also be a big improvement, instead of having a organise multiple destinations within each itinerary.
Lutz, thank you for your reply. Regarding No 3. Are you saying that there 'might' be a simple 'add poi at current location button'?
For me personally, laboriously digging down several levals of sub menus just to record the current location to a database lost its novelty appeal several months ago. _________________ Paul Driver

I think you are definitely onto something... but as long as I can get my hands on a 910 soon, it won't really matter. |
