I think TomTom need to activate that second braincell.
May not be possible though as it seems to have been dormant for quite some time now. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

The Tomtom GO 300, 700, Rider and Navigator 5 all has the latest map data from TeleAtlas. |
Soooo, TT support don't know their products.
I downloaded one of these maps. The version I received with TTN5 was 5.72 (or something like that) but the version I downloaded was 6.32 and there are some major changes to the maps, such as a bypass that is open in a few months is actually on the map right now.
In short, they have no clue :-( _________________ HP iPaq rz1710

When I asked TomTom Support a similar question to Axonrus, I got the following reply:
Thank you for your mail.
The current map version available is 5xx.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
So that's a lot clearer now

I bought v632 maps off their site, and yes there are definitely changes round here, eg the M60, which is still being widened at the moment, has the new layout and changes to roundabouts on v632 maps.
The downloadable PLUS maps will only activate along side currently activated original maps - so if you don't have TomTom, you can't just download the latest PLUS map for a few quid, and install the latest update, and expect it to work, you need to buy the full package. |

I bought a copy of TTN5 Software & Maps of Western Europe which arrived on 31st March. On installing it (with all the problems with the installer putting things in the wrong place, creating tomtom folder on SD card etc) I then found that the GB map version was 572 and the GB Plus map was 569 (I think).
Since this thread would indicate that there are later versions of the maps downloadable from TomTom at a cost I felt it was only reasonable to ask for the latest maps. The response from TomTom was:-
Quote: | Thanks for your mail
The map data provided with Navigator 5 was the latest available when it left our warehouse, If the product has been 'on the shelf' in the retailers for a while it will not have the latest map data, If you feel that the product is not fit for purpose and of merchantable quality you can return the product to your point of sale and obtain a refund under what is known as buyer remorse.
We are unable to offer you a downloadle map.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team |
Since I had to wait because the product was not in stock this seems unlikely but there will always be a delay while new CDs are authored / pressed etc. Also TomTom presumably will wish to get rid of old stock before changing to new maps on the CD set.
I find it disappointing (but not surprising!) that TomTom have done this
Has anyone else won such a battle with TomTom previously? |
