I have just been given a genuine TT SD card for USA (I'm off there in a week) and I have inserted the card into my TT300 which then loads the software. After that, I just get the Tom Tom 2 hands logo and I can't turn the unit off until I press the reset button underneath.
Can nybody throw some light on this please?
I am in the UK
Thanks |

Have you tried putting it back in there and seeing if it still works?

Have you got access to a card reader? If so, is it readible in that? Got any friends with a 3/5/700, does it work in theirs? Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the SD card?

It's actually readable from the TT unit once connected via USB to my PC. I have spoken to Tom Tom and read the contents of the card out to a consultant over the phone. He can't understand why it won't work.
Looks like I'm huh? |

Might be worth copying the card contents to another SD card and seeing if that works. Another thing you could try, on the copied sd card (not the original as you dont want to mess it up for your mate, just in case) is a software upgrade in case the OS software on the card is corrupted.
Good luck!

Hi TW, thanks for all your help with this. In the end I called Tom Tom direct & they talked me through the whole process.
Here's a copy if anyone out there has the same problem (they also emailed me with instructions).
To resolve the issue of being stuck at either the screen with the TomTom logo (above) or the Splash screen, then this can be fixed quite easily:
1. Connect the unit to the computer.
2. Go to "My Computer" and open the TomTom device.
3. You will see files and folders
4. Make a complete BACKUP of all files and folders before deleting anything!
5. Delete all the files which are NOT in one of the folders
6. Re-install the latest software update (which will put back all necessary files).
7. Disconnect the device from the computer and see if it turns on
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
Once again thanks for hanging in there with me on this.
