You can say that again...
Anyway, the 910 really look great. I think the feature of naming the streets is going to be a huge plus. Overall, it is really a step in the right direction. |

Looking at some of the pictures and reading the text it is clear the new range has a new mount. I've never been a fan of the windscreen mounting kit (I hate sticking pay and display car parking tickets on the window let alone anything else) so for my existing 500 I got one of the independently produced mounting kits.
The new mount, although hinged, appears to be one unit and not held together by a bolt - which would preclude you taking it apart to use with one of the kits.
Can anyone confirm if this is the case and if so will Tom Tom be supplying anything to act as a halfway house between the windscreen mount and the full scale permanent mounting kit? |

I see Maplin are now advertising the 510,710 & the 910. Here's the page for the 910:

Having the text-to-speech limited to just the 910 is really annoying.
I'm really not bothered by the ipod/mp3, the 20gb hard drive and all the maps for USA and Canada BUT the text-to-speech is a real advance.
All I really need is the 510 with the text-to-speech. Can I really justify the extra £150 for the 910?

I totally agree - more effort should have been made to make this feature available across the range..... _________________ Thanks,

I think it was the size of the Speech File System that meant they couldn't get it on a standard SD Card. _________________ Richard

Hi Oldboy,
Yes an SD card wouldn't fit the speech files (4Gb?) - the current GO 700 has a hard drive why has the 710 gone to SD?
Suppose I just cant see the logic in not providing such an important feature on at least two devices across the range......
IMHO the 710 would have been a much more attractive proposition with a HDD and the Speech files. _________________ Thanks,

I'd want to hear the quality of the TTS output before buying the 910... _________________ Geraint

Anyone have a confirmed release date yet??
Also I heard that if you dont have one on pre-order you wont have a chance of getting one the day its released and will have to wait upto 3 months.
Anyone heard anything about that either??
Cheers

So if I order from easy devices will I get it on release date then??
- I find it hard to believe that if I dont pre-order I wont get it for months as they are the only place taking orders and its released in a month is it not??
Cheers

It's up to you - I ordered mine a few weks after they were released and it took one month to come into stock.
They may be better prepared this year but I would'nt bank on it. _________________ Thanks,

I'm working on the basis that I can decide if I want it when it is released by pre-ordering now.
If I don't want it, I cancel when they tell me it is due to be shipped.
Can't lose really. |
