Well I've got my new toy (TTOne) and very impressed I am too!
Have run the "backup" utility and it indicates that backup successful and I can see files on my PC.
However now when I put in different (larger) SD card and tell run utility again to "restore" and hence install all info onto new card, it says
Quote: | Unable to find a backup of your personal settings or your TomTom ONE on your computer. |
what am I doing wrong...???

Hmmm....have managed to click and drag and seem to have created copy - 114MB.....does that sound right?
Now getting red cross on SD card issue.... off to do some research on how to address that.... |

Nope......failed...
Have tried copying individual files over.....still no good.
The files are definitely on the new card, but TTOne will not read.... :x :x |

Did you choose "remove safely" on the PC to disconnect the ONE?
Did you wait for the icon on the GO to stop flashing before you disconnected the USB lead? _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Do you still have an original SD Card that works OK?
If so Right Click it and choose Properties and see how many MB of data it holds. I suspect it is more than 114MB in which case there is something that didn't get Copied in the Backup you did.
Some make suggestions about showing Hidden Files, etc. in Folders Options being the culprit. _________________ Richard

Thanks Oldboy...will give it another try in the office tomorrow and report back - its a shame that there seems to be some glitch in the TT software that prevents a simple routine being simple...... |

Well.......I seem to have solved it.....but not 100% certain...!!!
TomTom support recommended that I download v5.42 of the software and run the TomTom utility - simple as that.
So I did, and the first time I tried the backup and restore I had exactly the same problem. However, the second time, it worked!!!
It seems that with 5.41 the backup saves itself to a folder named Tom Tom Go rather than One and as a result the TT can't find the files....the first time I ran 5.42 it seemed to do this again, but the second time succeeded on creating file as TomTom One, hence success! Hope that makes sense!!
As I don't have a card reader and I was merely trying to tun the TT utilities to achieve the backup, it made it a bit difficult to identlify this, and also resolve.
Anyway, off to get the Camera database and US maps now!!! Wish me luck!! |
