JGUI has launched announced the launch of Follow Me. This program allows you to use Pocket PC and GPS Rx in the situation where you have no map image. You can track your location and save the path for future use. The program draws your moving position on screen and continuously re-scales the position. There is compass, current speed, distance to Target Point and more.
Detailed description and screenshots: available at http://www.jgui.net/gps/followme/index.html.
A Trial Version works 7 days without limitations.
Follow Me:
-shows your actual position
-shows compass directions
-tracks your moving in various modes
-lists all your tracked points
-draws all your tracked points in some simulated map, rescaled continuously
-calculates distance to the Target Point
-calculates and analyzes "reverse moving"
-saves/opens your tracked path or point

Looks like very useful software...for someone who lives in the middle of the Australian Outback!
Seriously though, who would find this software useful? |

Most Garmin/Magellan users who have traded their handhelds in for a Pocket PC solution would like it as this is what they're used to with the handheld GPS Receivers. TBH, it's a limited market, especially when you can do the same on a moving map like Memory-Map, Fugawi etc. |

Looks like a useful program for the times when you're off-roading with your mountain-bike or hiking in the woods. While moving map software like OziExplorerCE can do this (or JGUI's GPS IDEAS), I can not count the number of times I found myself hiking an area where I didn't have a calibrated map. This software solves that problem perfectly. |

Talking of the Australian outback(!) I'll certainly find this useful. I probably won't have any maps to calibrate where I'm going, and I'll be going on long hikes with my camera - so having the ability to just tap in a start-point, and being able to back-track, will be really useful
