The new Data.chk file should reside in programs/ navigator folder, before you copy it to this location find the original data.chk and re-name it to old_data.chk, copy the new folder into the correct location as detailed above and then soft reset the device, this should get you up and running, you will still have the silly names but use the "test" button when configuring the warn when near POI function and listen to each one, it might help to write them down for future ref - Mike |

John, You can copy the new data.chk across to the SD card with the card reader, but the file must be placed into the following folder My Device/ Program Files/ navigator, to move the file to the correct location use the file explorer application on the PDA, first go to the following My Device/ Program Files/ navigator, locate the file called data (it won't show its file extension but this is the one you need), tap and hold the file, from the pop-up select re-name and call it Old_data then (still using file explorer on the PDA) go to the new data.chk file which you put on the SD card tap and hold, from the pop-up box select COPY, go back to My Device/ Program Files/ navigator folder tap and hold on the screen in an area free of any files and from the pop-up box select PASTE, this will put the file where it needs to be, once the copy is complete perform a soft reset and it should all work - Mike |

OK.... I am a newbie to this forum, have downloaded the voices (5344) for the Palm T5 Nav 5 version 5.201
I have installed the sounds and they are ALL running in tomtom Nav 5
BUT....
Is there anyone who can advise as to which sound alert to add to which POI file??
I have 6 (six) POIs that I have downloaded (although I don't know if they are the same as what is available on this site/forum!!
They are :-
mobile speed cameras
part 1 speed cameras
part 2 speed cameras
part 3 speed cameras
part 4 speed cameras
traffic lights
so which sound alert should be allocated to which of these 6 files in my "Warn when near POI" settings on my palm tomtom prefs...????
Hope this makes sense?
Please help!
Cheers in advance! |

Well they aren't the same as the PocketGPS ones! So can't really say what is in them (i.e. if they are divided up into different speeds or not).
But you could certainly use the "Mobile", "Red Light" and "Gatso" alerts from the list of what's available:
Beep 1 Gatso
Beep 2 Gatso 30
Beep 3 Gatso 40
Beep 4 Gatso 50
Beep 5 Gatso 60
Bell 1 Mobile
Bell 2 Mobile 30
Bell 3 Mobile 40
Boing Mobile 50
Bugle Mobile 60
Cow Mobile 70
Cuckoo Red Light
Polite 1 Specs
Polite 2 Temporary
OR... you could start again, with the speed-zoned set from here. |

Does anyone know if the POI extended warnings application (Poiw 1.0e) available from http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/poiw.html will work with the current TT Go software version 5.44 (build 5647) ?
Thanks. |

According to the Website it doesn't.
Quote: | Version Compatibility
Poiw 1.0e is built for TomTom Go software versions 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.201, & 5.202 and TomTom Navigator PPC versions 5.0, 5.1 & 5.21- NOT COMPATIBLE WITH 5.21 BUILD 5431
Poiw 1.0d is built for TomTom Go, One & Rider software version 5.42 only. |

Hi Oldboy. Thanks for the reply. I had read the website before posting, but as there was no explicit reference to 5.44, I thought there might be some possibility of compatibility. If the format for the data.chk file had remained constant from version 5.42 to 5.44 perhaps v1.0d might work. The http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/poiw.html web page might not have been updated since the March 06 update was released? I wondered if anyone had tried. |

The POIEW program is version dependant and NOT compatiable with version 5.44.
I hope to get the website and the POIEW updated soon.......... _________________ Ray
