iNav Corporation have asked us to review their newly released navigation solution "iNav iGuidance 2.1.3 " for PC and PocketPC. The underlying engine of iNav is the same as we have seen on Deluo Routis and a number of other programs for Europe and North America. But iNav comes with some rather unique feature that cannot even be found in the more powerful packages.

My review states that 2.1.3 is fully compatible. _________________ Lutz

I sent a pre-sales type support request to iGuidance support people. Here is the response I got from them...
I'm not familiar w/ this problem. However, each user's PDA device is a bit different.
Personally, running iGuidance on iPAQ 4955 and Dell Axim x51, x50, we've never experienced the problem. We can simply click on the "power off" button on the PDA and then power it on w/ iGuidance continuously running. Another thing is that it may have something to do w/ that user's PDA power saving feature as well as forgetting to reconnect his bluetooth receiver w/ his PDA, and thus stopped iguidance from being able to receive satellite signal. The reason the bluetooth connection is most likely the issue is because in PDA's running pre-wm5 OS, each PDA licenses a 3rd party bluetooth driver provided by various companies and thus the inconsistency causes the PDA to function differently w/ different types of driver. However, since Microsoft released wm5, which has built in and thus standardized bluetooth management, all the connection (including re-connection) is automatically controlled by MS wm5 OS and thus the "problem" you are concerned with is not an issue.
What PDA and OS were you running this iGuidance software on, when you wrote this review?

yes. I don't think the issue is Bluetooth related. It's rather the way the program handles the Windows CE operating system messages for standby and wakeup. _________________ Lutz

|

Hello All,
So to finally confirm .. IGuidance is compatible with HP 6315 .. right? I was about to place the order when I came across reading that this might be a problem. Hence the question. If not should I spent more and go for Tom Tom?
Also I was wondering if I could get any suggestion in deciding between the I-Blue BT GPS receiver versus Holux 236 receiver.
Any help is greatly appreciated... thanks!

Yes, it is compatible (with the small caveat mentioned).
Can't comment on the receivers, I don't know either. _________________ Lutz

the holux would be my reocomendation here they are very popular and when in wales for the first pocketgpsworld.com expo the only receiver to get a fix in the room all day was the holux236 _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. I've been poking around on the various reviews here at pocketgpsworld, but can't seem to find an answer... What is a good non entry-level program? POI's aren't of much interest to me (as the data gets stale fast) but itinerary sounds neat.

For the North American market we have a comparison database of available programs. If you want a really geeky tool try Mapopolis. _________________ Lutz
