|
|
I have just bought an i3 and previously owned an SPIII. I have the latest version of mapsource with Version 5 maps installed. I have received and entered a new unlock code for the i3 serial number which was all OK. It appears I could download maps to the i3 if I wanted, I havent done this as I dont want to overwrite and lose the v8 UK maps.
Am I correct in believing that if I buy another blank microSD card and swap it into the i3 I can download the v5 maps in the same wasy as with the SPIII and use them with the i3 in the rest of europe?
Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Yes, you are correct.
But use it on a new transflash card _________________ Nuvi 765T

Just to update those considering this. Tried it with V5 uk maps (pointless I know and it worked) tried V5 maps of Sweden and it cant find cities or any POIs or any addresses.
I have asked garmin why? |

The I3 uses City Direct Nt ? The NT bit is important as they are compressed diffrently hence NT(New Technology)
Loading anything but NT type maps will not be recognised by the I3 |

you can load any garmin mapping onto a blank card and the i3 WILL recognise it...city selects and navigators will autoroute and give you voice navigation.....metroguide maps will not except for one usa version....NT is just a compression method... _________________ *************************** |

I tried MP CN 5 maps of Sweden and the major towns of Uppsala and Stockholm were not shown in the list for addresses or Cities, also no hotels etc showed up on POIs. Never had a problem using this map data with my SPIII
Any Ideas? |

It was on simulation, I did try UK addresses and POI from the same Mapsource and they worked OK (no postcode searxh but i expected that)
Why would it matter where I was?
Thanks

if these cities show on your pc (mapsource) logically they should be on the i3 when you download the mapping....i can only think that in simulation mode there might be a glich...have you tried re-loading the mapping onto the card again and trying again... _________________ *************************** |

Yes I did and tried various countries, the only one that seemed to download sensibly was the UK.
Strange thing was it acknowledged some towns but not the two biggest i tried, I have asked Garmin but no reply so far. I could u/g my CN to 8 but I would like to know it works before i shell out £45. |
