Wondering if anyone can help or shed some light on our situation.
My workmate has just bought a C310 streetpilot yesterday.
Now this morning in work we switched on it picked up our location as somewhere in LONDON (default apparently). So we went outside and started it up again this time running the start up sequence (that only runs once) and it actually got our position in NORTHERN IRELAND.
So all was working fine, now we were reading on various areas about updates etc and sending cards mem cards away etc, when we had read that you still had base maps with the card removed, so we took out the card (the unit was off), when we switched on it just said no mem card in and we couldnt go any further,
So we placed the mem card back in and turned unit on again, but its now back to showing us in LONDON, and we cant get it to show us in NORTHERN IRELAND.
Can anyone help at al!!!
Is there a way of geting the first-time startup sequence to work again.
Yes we are complete NOOBS to sat nav.
All help GREATLY appreciated!!!l |

Have you got a Streetpilot Manual, if so it tells you how to set a Home Location. If not go to http://www.garmin.com/support/userManual.jsp where you can download same in PDF format. In the meantime on your unit select My Locations and then select Set Home. Select Enter My Address, enter the address you want to set as Home using the onscreen keyboard, then select Save.
Hope this helps,

Setting the home location will not change anything to the location displayed on the screen. It is always the last position with sat reception. Only in simultaion mode (gps switched off) you will be capable to change the actual location. But once you switch off and on your device your location will be the last position with sat reception.
To come back to the initialization sequence:
(1) With device swiched off, hold the back button and press the power button during some seconds. Some data is displayed.
(2) Press the back button for second screen. Press twice the selection wheel and you will get into the diagnostics menu.
(3) Select Non-Vol Info and confirm with selection wheel.
(4) Select Clear Non-Vol Memory
This will restart the initialization seqeunce. You will lose all favorites and POI.
