And why can we only buy over-priced TransFlash pre-loads of pityfully limited European maps? | Ignoring the obvious "Rip Off Britain" answer, and the next obvious one about the American's not being able to understand geography (making it cheaper all round for Garmin to sell a single DVD which covers all countries and towns so the Americans don't get confused by which countries towns are located in) I wonder if it's simply due to market requirements - those that want full European mapping need it regularly and hence buy a unit with all European maps included upfront (like the Nuvi 350 etc.) whereas those that only need 1 country for a few trips / holiday will not want to pay £350 when they only need 1 country for £90. |

You can buy City Select Europe in the UK for around £160, this is part of a kit for another unit. If the i3 came with this software it would be twice its current price at the very least. You can't have it both ways. _________________ Chas

Which unit is that the?
When you start at Zeebrugge and tour the Ardennes and Germany that bargain £90 card becomes £270.
I was engaged to an American lass once. It's true, they need GPS. they couldn't find their with a mirror (or should that be asshole).
Oh! brilliant. Censor the English but not the Yank. Cheeeeess! |

Be interested to hear how you get on with it and where did you get it for £140? If it's V7 you might qualify for a free upgrade to V8 which, I understand, is just out. _________________ Chas

Well, I can see that one being censored soon
A*sholes (English translation: donkey bums) are clearly not covered in the forum rules. As an anti-censorship type bloke I propose all future profanity revolve around the term 'donkey bum'
Come on you UK guys, be nice to the Americans please (jvc excepted, I share your pain mate). Don't forget a lot of them we're British once upon at time - until, of course, they veered right following the Boston Tea Party. |

No worries Mr Bumpkin.
Arrived this morning by Spec Del and it's City Navigator not Select.
But it IS version 8.
Can't wait to play.
Oh, one thing though, it did actually work out to be about £145.
If it's allowed on here I can provide supplier details.
Thanks again for the hint matey. |
