Hi,
I've noticed 3 new types of yellow painted cameras in my area and i haven't a clue what these are!!
I've submitted these cameras on the site using the submit bit of the site. However can anyone explain what these cameras are or do. Here is an explanation of what the cameras look like:
It seems to be be situated at a junction and if really high up but looks like a skinny and smaller version of the red light cameras. However, it can't be a new type of red light camera as the old red light cameras are still there! I've also noticed that there are some new white lines on the road too which makes me think that these cameras do measure speed. I'll try to get a picture of these but i'm away this week so won't be able to send anything until i get back.
I've posted the positions of the cameras using the tool so i hope someone could check these out?
Hopefully I should be able to get my subscription fee back as i've only been a member for 2 weeks and have submitted 2 mobile cameras, 1 speed camera which has been removed and 3 new static cameras!!
Let me know if you need to know any more but it would be good to know what types of cameras these are and what they do. They look like a new bread of cameras which ive never seen before in my area and in the last week i've spotted three of them that weren't there last week! |

nope. ive seen the front of it and there are two glass bits on the front. i'll try and take a pic next time im around it and post it up to make it clearer.
If you live in london then its on the a40 western avenue road near east acton station. Its the in both directions at this juction and its the junction where u have homebase located there. people local to the area will know which area i am talking about as traffic is like hell there at times! The only reason i created this post is that the same camera has been put up on my local road which is quite quiet and theres been no cameras in this area for years!
What they should be doing is be putting up survalience cameras to help fight crime! |

I wonder if they are Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPRS) cameras.

I thought ANPR cameras looked similar to specs, i.e. more like a security camera than a yellow box.

It records both red light jumpers and speed!!
So if the locations that i have provided for 3 of these cameras then does this qualify me for free lifetime subscription??? |

one thing i forgot.....if these cameras cover both red light and speed then how is this displayed on your navigation if using the 23 zones?
Does the database actually cover these types of cameras and if so does it have its own icon? |

cool. I've supplied them via the online tool so lets wait and see what happens. When will i find out if i was the first or not? Also, if i was the first would i get a refund for the unused months that i've paid for? I've subscribed for a year a few weeks back so will have something like 11-10 months unused.
Well either way im still happy to contribute to the database as i think this is a great idea! |
