Posted: Thu Mar 09, 2006 6:05 pm Post subject: Where does TomTom store the favorites? |
|
|
I've recently got an MDA Vario, and after i get hold of a bluetooth GPS receiver, I'll be installing my copy of TTN5 on to it. The only thing i need to figure out is where does TTN store the details for my favorites, so i can transfer them onto the vario at the same time, and be up and running quickly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. _________________ TT 730 |

If i transfered the cfg file in the map folder, to the new device, would it cause tomtom to have any conflicts? or would it all run ok? _________________ TT 730 |

Just copy and paste over the cfg file. It would all run ok. |

Sorry to intrude on your thread but I've just purchased a hi-speed SD Card and installed the maps. TTN5 2.1. Favourites have gone so looked for the cfg file in the maps folder on my 'old' SD card and it's not there, even showing hidden files and folders. Am I missing something? |

The file should be in the map folder. For example nin the Great_Britain_Map folder, there should be a file called Great_Britain.cfg _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Great_Britain_Map folder has several .DAT files.
There's a Great_Britain sound file, Great_Britain.pna and a Great_Britain-map bitmap file.
46 others are the PGPSW speed camera ones.
Looked in every folder/sub folder on my PDA and old and new SD Card and no sign of a .cfg file. |

On mine (i am looking at it from file explorer on the PDA), there are three files together.
Great_Britain_Plus.mid
Great_Britain_Plus.pna
Great_Britain_Plus.cfg
There are other files in the folder as well (POI's, CNAME, CNODE ect).
If you do not have the files, I would reload the program and maps.
Not ideal I know but this should definitely solve the problems.
Ps. I don't use the favourites folder at all, I find it too unstable. I just create POI's for locations that I want to save. (but there is a limited number of POI categories - 39 I believe) _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Two choices, de-select "hide extensions for known file types" in the folder options on your PC, or use search for .cfg.
It is this file (Great_Britain-map.cfg) you are looking for.
For some reason mine asscociates to Office and so the extension is hidden by default. |

A big thank you, all has been revealed.
Now showing Great_Britain.mid, Great_Britain.pna and Great-Britain-Map.cfg
So I got it wrong when I thought Great_Britain-Map was a sound file . I can now copy over the file from old to new card and it has saved me loads of time :D . |
