My mum has been very impressed with my ipaq, navman sleeve and TomTom, such that she is looking into get one to go with her new car.
Rather than spend the £1000+ that most car manufactures want to charge, can anyone recommend a good budget all in one system that will do GPS routing in the UK?
I think min requirements would be
easy to use, no PocketPC type resets if possible!
voice spoken directions,
ability to re-route around traffice queues.
easy to install in the car
I don't think a PocketPC solution is the way to go for her, is something like a Garmin solution a good thing to look into?
I travel to the US a fair bit (in fact I'm here now) so could pick something up on my next trip if that would save money and work back in the UK.
The Garmin will come in at around £800-850 where as the Navman will come in at around £950-999.
Bearing in mind that it's a computer, so you won't avoid crashes. TBH, I don't see any problems on my Pocket PC's, hardly ever have to soft reset them, it really depends on whether she wants to start a learning curve or not. There will be more of a learning curve with Pocket PC's as you have to start understanding Windows, and how to operate it and recover from any problems encountered. If she does go the PDA route, then I would suggest a cabled GPS mouse solution with an iPAQ 2210.
