I am struggling with the new procedures I'm afraid.
Previously the operation was a cinch every time, I inserted my PDA in the docking cradle POIEdit would automatically check to see if the databases had been updated. I had to do nothing and the details were always up to date.
Now I have no idea what the procedure is and the web links don't seem to help.
I have downloaded both zip single files for the UK and Europe and have extracted them to two separate files.
However when I try to use POIEdit it reckons that the map needs calibrating whatever that means and no update takes place.
I suppose it has to be this complicated to prevent free use but would it be possible to post step by step instructions please.
At the moment the correct and apparently more labour intensive way of updating eludes me.
Many thanks.

POIEdit support is not working yet. It's on the list to get sorted. (Use "search" on this forum for several recent post about it.
Its really not hard to drag and drop the files manually, though |

I use an XDA II
Since my post I have been making some progress but would welcome your further comments on the following.
1 Which file should I place the European files in please.
2 Do I need to download and copy across all three UK files ie Speed Zoned Complete, Consolidated by type and UK Single file with all cameras or is there some duplication.
Many thanks.
Brian Leach
PS I'm also have login problems with Firefox 1.5 and am having to use IE. Is this a known problem please? |

I need to know what navigation software you are using? Assuming TomTom then unless you have European maps installed you need not install the Continental camera files at all.
You need to decide if you wish to use Speed Zones, Single File or consolidated by Type. You should not use them all!
I use Firefox 1.5 and can login without a problem, do you have firewall software such as Zone Alarm and what Anti-Virus do you use? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for your response.
I am using TomTom 5 (latest version).
I have loaded all the European maps on 2 1gb SD Cards.
"You need to decide if you wish to use Speed Zones, Single File or consolidated by Type. You should not use them all!" Can you tell me how I decide please, what the overlaps are and what will happen if I do use them all as at present they are all on the card!
I use Zone Alarm as my firewall and Trend Micro as my antivirus but I don't understand why that would make a difference between Firefox and IE which would both be using the same settings?
Many thanks

PS Haven't used IE so much for ages! |

Turn off Zone Alarm temporarily and test. There are posts elsewhere giving the settings for ZA that allow it to work.
As for the database, the single file does not differentiate between camera types, the consolidated type does and the speed zoned gives you speed inducations for each camera. The speed zoned requires a fair bit of config as each speed needs an alert configuring, the consolidated by type is IMHo the best compromise and the one I use.
Loading all three will result in three warnings for each location. If you have the contiguous European map loaded then copy the continental file into the Western Europe Map folder. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This always seems to cause people confusion...
All the cameras are in the "Single File" download.
Exactly the same cameras are in the "Consolidated by Type" download but split into 5 types (Gatso, Mobile, Specs, Temp and Redlight).
Exactly the same cameras are in the "Speed-Zoned" download.
The Redlight and Temp files are the same as in the consolidated by type download, and the Gatsos, Mobiles and Specs are further split up into sets the different speeds for each type. |

Thanks for this chaps.
I think I will stick with the Speed Zoned files as these seem to be like the previous POIEdit downloads or am I wrong?
I have already set up the various voice prompts for each speed as per your file.
Assuming I'm not which files do I now need to remove please.
Reverting to the European files I am afraid that they are by individual country ie France Benelux Germany etc. Can I copy the files to each folder or will this cause confusion.
I turned off Zonealarm but still no luck in logging in. This is being written in IE again.
Perhaps a link to the Zonealarm thread might help me.
Many thanks,

As far as I know, it is all exactly the same as before, except it is easier to install because the non-speed-zoned redlight and temp files are included in the download and you don't have to ferret them out from other folders like you used to. |
