CBROM's Speed Camera Editing Software

Hi All,

I got myself an i3 last week. I'm really impressed with it. Straight away i loaded the speed camera database.

The only gripe i had was that you couldn't alter the alert distance - or so i thought!

Using the new POI Loader from Garmin which accepts GPX files, and I little application which I wrote you can easily alter the alert distances to whatever you want.

This is done by converting the CSV files into GPX files, for which Garmin have written their own 'extensions' to allow more options per POI. One of these options is the alert distance!

This has now made my i3 even better!!

I don't get it...

When going into POI Loader just choose Manual mode instead of Express

and you can adjust the Alert Distances there as the POIs load.

Or does your application do something else??

Doh!

You can see the Default Alert Speed x mph under the bottom right hand corner of the ImageShack QuickShot box.

Great little tool, thanks mate for that. I have updated the csv files and reloaded them onto my i3. Now to try them out in the morning............ Rolling Eyes

Perhaps i'm being stupid. Can someone point out what i've missed please. What does this application do that the Manual option in POI Loader doesn't?

I'll admit that it's a very clever app to convert from csv to gpx but can't see the point when POI Loader does it for you. And csv files are easier to edit / add to...

StellaMaris,

It took me a few attempts to understand your question but i think i got it. My application reads the speed from each entry within the .csv file (the @20 bit) whether consolidated or not. From the screen shots on my site you can only see one speed and distance, but infact there are 7 different speeds that the program looks for from 20 to 70 mph. Depending upon which speed each entry is, the alert distance is set for that entry.

1) any chance of being able to select more than one csv file at a time?

2) i noticed in the gpx file (opened in notepad) the following code:

The Garmin Specification for the proximity element is specified in metres, so they convert it back into feet.

As for the xml in the gpx files, the POI Loader won't load them unless it is present.

I'm going to have a look at loading multiple files and fix the spelling typo's!

I'm glad you liked the app - i can't believe there hasn't been something to do the job already though!
