Here's a problem that someone may have experienced before:

Downloaded some new POIs, when I connected my 510 to the PC to install them, instead of getting the chime and indication of connection on screen-nothing but a message on smart st desktop stating "Smart ST Desktop cannot detect your iCN, software rest your iCN connect it to the PC and click next".

Did this and got the message "Unable to connect to the iCN. Make sure the iCn is connected to your PC and that Activsync is running".

Well Activsync doesn't appear to be running, so I reinstalled the Navman software and got the same result.

I seem to remember that when the iCN was detected before a window for Activsync popped up, but doesm't now.

Any ideas anyone?

Try starting Activesync and manually connecting to your iCN. Also, try rebooting the PC; I occasionally had problems with Activesync connections and a reboot sorted it more often than not.

Some firewalls can also prevent the unit from being 'seen'

Thanks to you both, but Alan King had the answer he e-mailed me to suggest I check that the connections setting in Activsync on the toolbar.

Somehow the box allowing USB connection had mysteriously become unchecked. Sorted now.

Big thanks to Alan.
