when one keeps updating and saving on sprite does it overwrite the existing saved progs. or does it keep building up on the PDA only I notice that I am getting quite a menu on saved progs, can one delete the previous saved progs so that it will not effect restore.

it keeps building up. What you normally do is issue a hard reset before a restore - that way only the latest backup is restored. _________________ Lutz

Thanks Lutz A bit drastic though ,as I have never had to use back up yet I am very wary to do anything that will rock the boat, as the PDA is working great at the moment and I am reluctant to do a hard reset in case it anything up , I have just fitted a Wifi card which was a bit of a pain to set up but it works really well, that is why I did a backup.no doubt the time will come to do a hard reset, thanks again . |

Is my version of Sprite different then or have I read the question wrong ?? because I can set the maximum amount of space or the maximum number of backup files to keep in the backup destination folder. This avoids the files building up.The setting is under "Options".. "Backup Options".."Backup File Management"

oddsock, you probably read the question wrong.
When you do a restore after you have added new programs these new programs are not removed. The backup contents is simply merged with the current state of the Pocket PC. If that is not what you want, do a hard reset before the restore. _________________ Lutz

Ok! I can see that I took saved progs to mean saved Backups hence my enquiry...I had better go to Specsavers . I am still a little confused by ......."When you do a restore after you have added new programs these new programs are not removed. The backup contents is simply merged with the current state of the Pocket PC" ... Does this mean that if I perform a Backup before installing say prog "A" ..then found that prog "A" caused a problem so I then do a restore, would prog "A" still remain somewhere on the PPC??

I am sorry I think that I have posed the question wrong , I meant If I install a new programme and then do a back up to make sure that the new prog is included in the restore action , does the new backup over write the existing one . or can I just delete the old backup with out any probs .
thanks |

No it doesn't overwrite, and yes you can delete the previous backup.
Depends how much depth you want in backup defence. _________________ Garmin 2360LT

If you want a Belt and Braces job you could copy your Backups to a folder on your PC and just keep the last one on the PPc for use when away from home .You can also set up Sprite to backup to the PC when you dock via Active sync.

NEVER delete ANY backups. You will need them two days after you deleted them. As was suggested, copy them to the PC, and then burn them onto a CD etc. _________________ Lutz
