My i3 has a fault with the sound. Before going back to Garmin I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem.
Basically the voice either doesn't work at all or it is very distorted (it sounds as if someone has a microphone too close to their mouth).
I did toy with the idea of resetting it but I don't think that will help.
Any ideas? |

could be a faulty connection to the speaker...? i'm sure there's been a few reports of dodgy speakers. get in touch with garmin and they'll probably replace it

Does it sound distorted at all volume levels, or just at the higher ones?
Try switching to a different voice langauge (eg: American English) and back again, to see if that helps. Remember to wait for the i3 to complete its processing, which can take a few minutes.
Has it always behaved like this, or just recently? |

It was working fine until Saturday. The distortion is at all volumes but sometimes it doesn't work at all.
I'll try changing the language etc, otherwise is sending it back to Garmin a straight forward process?
(Incidentally I bought it from Woollies who have said they don't sell them anymore but will give a refund).
Thanks for your help |

GOOD NEWS!
I sent it back to Garmin they replaced it (within 10 days) without any quibble.
The only problem is I now have to reload the speed camera database and the spash screen pic of the wife!
The other slight problem is I have gone from version v8 to v7 |

I wouldn't stand for that - get back on the phone to them. |

Great minds think alike. That's exactly what I've been doing. It seems though you go on a loop of being put on hold then go back to the main switchboard then back on hold then back to the switchboard.....Arrgghhhhh.
I will talk to someone - even if it takes all day! |

Thanks MaFt
I did get through and they said send it next week and they'll replace it free.
It is annoying that it will end up being another week without the i3 (they've said it's a 2 day turnaround but it's more likely to be a week when allowing for the time in the post either side).
I've sent them a moany email saying I sent v8 they've returned v7 - can they go against company policy and send me new v8 THEN I'll return old card.
Let' see what they say. |

it's worth a try lcrc! i remember when i was doing my dissertation at uni i'd just bought a new cpu and motherboard and there was a fault of some sort. they said to return it and gave them a sob story of how i can't cos i need the computer functioning (even if there was still a problem) to get it one so they sent out the replacements then i swapped it over and sent the faulty ones back. it's not like they don't know where you live to get it back...
