I am having a problem with Navigate to / GPS Position on my TTG 700.
Even when I have 6 or more satellite fixes (which I would imagine isn't necessary for this), the option for GPS Position is greyed out, which means that I can't enter a raw latitude / longitude position.
Does anyone know why this option is greyed out?
thanks |

Because you cannot navigate TO your own position (GPS position is where you are). |

This has caused several people the same confusion.
Its a badly labelled icon in my opinion - it would be better called "Present Position"
The problem comes about because all the same icon pages are used in several situations... Navigate to... Add as Favourite.... Add as POI.... etc.
Depending on your situation, on or more of them will be greyed out. For example if you are "At Home" you'll find the "Home" icon is also greyed out in Navitage to... |

Thanks for the replies. I am a little clearer on what the button is for.
It would be nice if you could enter a lat / long, though. A hint there for Tomtom. |

The "GPS Position" button enters your present position (assuming you have good satellite lock) as an answer to whatever you ask the TomTom to do.
For example, if you are outside a friend's house, and want to store it as a favourite, you would go to "Add favourite" then choose "GPS Position".
Similarly, if you had a POI category called "Friends", you would go to "Manage POI" in the Preferences menu, then "Add POI" and choose "GPS Position".
But if you had told the TomTom to "Navigate to..." now you see why "GPS Position" is greyed out? |
