|
|
Hi all
I see on the Navman store that the "Drive away" SD card for the USA is ONLY for use in units running the US/Canada version of the ST software.
Is it practical to install this software version onto a UK ICN 510 on arrival in the USA, and use the card, and then reinstall the UK ST software on return to the UK ?
Thanks
Al |

Someone might know the answer to that one, but sorry I don't. In case you don't get a response to your query, try emailing Navman from here: http://ems00801.egain.net/system/web/view/selfservice/controller.jsp?CONFIGURATION=1019&PARTITION_ID=1&CMD=STARTPAGE&LANGUAGE=en&COUNTRY=gb

Hi
As you can see in my signature I use US maps.
I have them on CD and upload the area I am visiting as and when I need them. I usually put them on a 512 SD card and have had no problems. I have not tried to put them on since the 2005 update, but when I do I will post the results here. I understand that you cannot mix V3 and 2005 maps but can run them separately as my US maps are V3.
The driveway SD would be region specific and not all 52 states as they will need a card over 2 Gb in size.
Regards

Hi DRP - I did know the first part of your answer to Al However, I did not know if he could load the US Drivaway SD card as he wanted. We've both learnt a little more. Tks _________________ Gee-Pee

Hi
My apologies to all the US readers a slip up on my side, I believe that it should read 50 states.

Hi
I forgot to mention this, an associate has a US purchased 510 V3 and runs 2005 European maps on it with no problem, purchased from Navman UK. I assume that the 510 has been upgraded to 2005 software as I do not think that you can run 2005 maps on V3, but can run V3 maps on 2005. So if he can do it this side of the pond I do not see that you can do it the outher side (But I may Be wrong) If this makes sense?
Regards

Hi
Unless I am reading it wrong.
“The Navman Drive-Away™ SD card is ONLY intended to be used with the iCN 510 and iCN 635 with United States and Canada version of SmartST V3 software.”
I interperate it as.
This card is intended for use with V3 software on the iCN and is not specific to US & Canada versions only.
But as Gee Pee states if in doubt shout, ask Navman.
Regards

Hi
Navman have at last replied and confirmed there is no problem using both UK and USA maps, provided you do not mix ST V3 and ST2005 versions.
