Well as luck might have it, there's a lot of hardware and software we have on our list to review in the marine section, unfortunately none of us have a boat
If anyone's willing to take the team out for a a few trips, or even a day a month, get to see new gear etc, then I'm sure some of the team would be up for it! |

i live in the solent area and am interested in all types of marine gps. I would be very keen to assist in providing myself and my boat for tests (Weather permitting)!! I am very curious to see how "pocket gps" compares against dedicated gps/chartplotters
Many thanks glen |

I am currently reviewing the MapTech Marine Charts coupled with both PDA and Laptop PC.
The applications I am looking at are Memory-Map, Pocket Navigator, and Chart Viewer lite.
Nearly got out on the water last week, but lack of a bosun to get us out to the mooring scuppered that trip. Weather permitting we will get out before the end of the season, so the reviews will be available in about 3-4 weeks time. _________________ Mike Barrett |

What Mike ommitted was he was hoping this was going to happen because he managed to complete another day doing his favourite past time, and that's spending the day down the pub! |

I can understand that dave its the best way to test gps .I always find a couple of hours down pub and ability to find me way home is impaired.
I see my son offered his help (gtflash) his boat is fast so if the gps goes wrong you get to the wrong place faster.
By the way one of your links to 1-2-1 in the purchase gps gear seems to have gone peculiar takes you to a cctv company |

Thanks for the offer Glen, we might take you up on that. We'll be looking at marine gear probably in the new year. |

What Dave failed to mention that although confined to the bar at the Yacht Club, I was on a strict diet and not able to consume any intoxicating beverages.
I have actually made it out on the water in the last week, but had to travel all the way to the Florida Keys to do it. I managed to grab some screen shots whilst wizzing along at about 30 knots.
I am still hoping to get out on a cruiser this season, but that is starting to look a bit dodgy at the moment, only a few days left in the season before my mates boat is taken out of the water. _________________ Mike Barrett |
