Just purchased the 520 on 9th Feb 2006 and I have noticed that the UK map that came with it is dated 2004/2. I had the Packardbell GPS400 before and I was informed that the ICN520 was a better satnav. The GPS400 maps are dated 2005 which are upto date.

I was using my ICN520 today heading to Stansted Essex and the new A120 road was not on the satnav, I was driving in a field, where the GPS400 the road was there.

Now if you pay this amount of money for a Satnav in Feb 2006 surely you should get the latest UK maps to go with it or are these 2004/2 the latest maps from Navman.

Hi
It dose not matter who or what GPS you have purchased.
The maps can be anything up to 4 years out of date. It takes a long time from mapping out the roads to final production of the maps. With today’s technology that is how it is. All the maps are made by third parties so the end product supplier has no part to play in this matter, weather it be Navman or TomTom or any one else.
Regards
DRP

Thanks DRP for the reply

I just got annoyed that I purchased this 3 days ago and when I went to use it for the first time I went on the new A120 to Stansted and the satnav plotted me going through a field all the way.

It does make you feel a bit robbed at the time when you pay all this money for a system and the maps are not correct.

Is there any idea on when the maps will be updated and if they are will it cost to have them updated.

Thanks once again
