Whilst no doubt it is an impressive piece of kit, with built in speed limit reminders for example, I don't think it is portable enough.

For someone who has access to more than one car, I think the Road Angel is a better solution, since it is literally plug and go.

That's my 2 pennies.....

I currently have the original Origin Blue i, and i'm soooo seriously contemplating upgrading after reading this review.

Is there any chance of a few more pics, especially ones of the display in use, as I'd really like to get some impression of the sort of information that is displayed on the screen. (Can't really find any anywhere Sad

talkingb*ll*x - you do have a slight point, but if you own 2x cars, and drive both regularly - Origin have released the option to purchase a 2nd Cradle and wiring loom for a 2nd car. So you can just clip the unit between the two.

But in comparison, the Origin Blue is far far superiour to the Road Angel!

It's true that the Originb2 is not as portable as others but that's the trade off for a system with so many features. It is worth mentioning that Origin offer an additional mounting cradle as an accessory so you could install in more than one car.

The b2 manual in .pdf format can be found here http://www.originb2.com/product/manual.pdf and this gives you examples of the data displayed and shows the icons used for different alarms etc.

I've tested all the current units and believe me when I say this is the winner by a mile! It really is superb Laughing

As I said, I don't doubt quality of the product.

To port to another vehicle with just the screen unit, I think you'll need more that just the cradle - you'll need to double up on the cradle , the connecting lead set, the GPS antenna, the laser detector and 12v power lead. Are these all sold separately, and any idea how much it would all cost?

Well I must say since I purchased a Road Angel I've fell in love with it, it takes the simple approach, but there are a lot of things it doesn't do, and that's where the Bluei comes in. The Bluei was on my selection list, but cost was a little high for what I wanted to pay at the time.

Thanks for the link to the manual - thats now totally convinced me!

But better news still, Origin Technologies have just told me that my Origin Blue i is worth £110 quid to them, and I get to keep all the accessories!

So i think my bank balance is going to decrease by 320 pounds now!

What is the volume of the voice warnings like? I have an Origin Blue i and find the voice warnings a bit too quiet even at maximumn volume.

They can be turned up very loud. The downside is that the voice warnings become a bit tinny but they are still understanfable. I would imagine they are loud enough at full volume to be heard even in a commercial vehicle.

Given the newly-enhanced Cyclops package, and the fact that it's some £70 cheaper, overall would you recommend the Cyclops over the Origin b2 or would you still go for the latter?

It really depends on what you're after, if all you want is a Speed Camera detector with easy transfer from vehicle to vehicle, ease of use and simplicity then the Cyclops is the better choice.

If however you want a unit that can cover every base, laser, camera, radar (extra cost) with a detailed info display and voice warnings as well as drive a PocketPC Nav system via it's NMEA out option then Originb2 is the answer.

For me it would be the b2 but then I like gadgets Thumbs Up
