|
|
Sorry that my first post here should be about a real stupid thing I did.
I have just got my first satnav, TT5 Navigator which I am using on my Dell Axim x51v.
I wanted to try out the speed camera POI files and was syncing them to my Axim without realising that my syncing program was deleting the original files in the great_britain-map folder on my SD Card.
Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this?
Thanks,
nashi |

Yes, you will have to restore the backup that you made from your SD card. Alternatively you can reinstall the maps from the CDs. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I do not have a backup (someone like me who is dumb enough to delete their maps is also too dumb to do a backup first) and all that is on the CD is the manual, no maps |

Describe your problem to TomTom (include a proof of purchase) and they will send you either a replacement SD card or the CDs. _________________ Lutz

Well I explained the situation to TomTom and they want €50 to "repair" my SD Card.
Given that I have already bought and activated a legitimate copy I thought this was extortionate.
Anyone have any experience of dealing with TomTom in situations like this? |

Did they offer to send a new SD card (without wanting the old one back)? - that alone can already cost EUR 50 _________________ Lutz

My understanding was that I was to send my current card back to them for "repair" which I guess means replacement but I am not sure. As the card itself is OK just missing some software I don't understand why they can't just send the contents of my missing folder to me. |

Nashi,
Perhaps I'm a little confused, but when you install (sync) the speed camera files to your pocket pc, the only files that are over written are the camera files with the same names and two configuration files (not in the map folder). You don't actually overwrite the map files eg. cline cname cnode etc.
What files are you suggesting you've over written?? _________________ Mikey
