A friend has a Navman PiN 570 with Smart ST software and it allows her to check average speed/miles covered/highest speed etc.
I have a Mio168 with TTN5.21 and wonder if there is an add-on which would give me similar information for my usage.
Thanks. |

Hi Lost_Property
My GPS Speed Sentry application does all of that (and more);
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~tchart/gps_ss.htm
Its a stand alone application not a TT add on though.

Nice link tchart, thanks for that. However, it does do more than I would use and not quite what I am after.
Basically, I want to be able to use my Sat Nav in the normal way but have something in the background monitoring miles travelled, length of time driving and average speed.
My friend, with her PiN 570, can navigate to her destination and on arrival, with a few taps on screen, have the details in front of her.
I believe her PiN also shows for example, the total time taken for the journey, the actual time driving and the highest speed travelled on the journey. |

Whatever application you load to run in the back ground (and the one tchart has linked to is a decent one) will need the Fransons GPS Gate utility to work, this allows you to share the GPS data between multiple applications - so the shopping list doesn't stop at just the application - Mike |

Thanks for that, so there's more to it than I thought?
Oh well, never mind, I'll have to stay with what I have. |

Lets get this straight, you need to purchase ALL the software that runs on your PDA (unless its freeware of course :D ) if all you want to run is a single GPS application at any one time then your device will work, however if you want to run two different applications at the same time then you need to share the GPS data between the two (or more applications that need the GPS data) to achieve this you need the GPS Gate utility (its about the best I have found to do this job) - if you use a WM2005 device then you can use the in built GPS application to do a similar function, hope this helps - Mike |
