I heard on the grapevine that a Service Pack would be available for download for the above-mentioned devices sometime today. I don't expect it will be before 09:00 hours GMT, though. _________________ Tim |

Tim, is it best to download the update and then try and manually install it, or open up the Desktop software and let it do a search for any updates (which I assume it will then find)? |

I believe that the update is good for your device. _________________ Tim |

I'm not sure. I don't have a 510/520/570 running 2005. When I updated V3 though, the Navman Desktiop worked fine for me; if it doesn't, download and run manually. _________________ Tim |

Hi Simon1:
If you run the update it actually installs a new version of Smart ST on your PC. Next time you sync with your ICN it says a software update is available do you want to install. The whole process including the download took me about 30 minutes this morning.

How do I establish which version my 510 is running?
Looking in Settings/More Settings/About: it reads:
Version: 3.00.0027
English: V3.01.0003
What does this update do and is it worth uploading? |

It looks as if it is designed to fix some software bugs.
It was reported that it would
General Improvements and Enhancements:
1) Occasional 'Assert failure' messages –
"Assert Failure: V1_17_0030\Mapcore\src\mapdata\ENMfile.c
line 186 Test OSexit Call”
An occasional ‘Assert failure’ prompt, experienced when inserting an SD card or when ejecting an SD card when map data is loading on the device have been resolved. A similar, occasional, assert message experienced when driving has also been eliminated.
2) Saving POI changes when using a European language – For users of an iCN 520 device installed with a European language full functionality of the POI facility has been implemented. Within the POI menu ‘All POI’s’ can be switched on/off; single POI categories can be switched on/off individually.
3) Cancellation of ‘Instruction List’ – When users cancel a route that has many pages of turn instructions, the instruction list is completely cleared. When a new route is chosen, page counter & newly calculated instructions are correctly displayed within the instruction list.
4) General Translation errors – where required, general European translations have been implemented.

Go to
Preferences / More Preferences / Startup
and select Language Selection screen. Do a soft reset and you will be able to select the UK English from there. _________________ Navman ICN 520

First of all read through the instructions carefully. Not a bad idea to print them out.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-navman.php
They take you step by step through the whole process. If you have any specific problem, you can then ask on the Forum.
It has been noted elsewhere, that some firewalls may prevent you from uploading the files from your PC to your ICN. If that proves to be the case, disabling your firewall may be necessary. _________________ Navman ICN 520

ARRRGGH! What's going on? 8O
I've applied the SmartST2005 service pack 1, and now having a lisping American woman who refers to roundabouts as "traffic circles", and worst of all, the problem with roundabout navigation still hasn't actually been fixed (see http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=163925#163925
Although I doubt Navman will ever bother to fix the roundabout routing problem, is there any way to get my well-spoken British lady back who does not refer to a roundabout as a 'Traffic Circle'?
These yanks have some funny ideas... |
