Well I took the unit back to Halfords and exchanged it. The manager there told me that you cant put custom POI files on a navman 520. Still I got another unit and got it home. Got the exact same issues as before though, it gives me the same error as before. |

Hi Icky.
The Halfords manager is wrong.
You can put Custom POI's on a Navman 520, it's what we're all doing for the camera database, amongst other things.
I can't, for the life of me, believe you're still having the same problem.
I know of at least 2 people where I work who have Navman's, I'll check with them to see if they had any problems installing cameras, but I don't think they did.
Will check anyway.
Maybe a call to Navman tech support might help. You need this sorting.
I wouldn't bother with their e-mail system as they take minimum 4 days, usually 5, to reply. Then they only answer it if they feel they can fob you off.
They totally ignore those 'awkward questions' and you just don't get a reply.
Good Luck.

Ok folks, get your legs and buttocks at the ready. Prepare to kick yourselves.
I found the phone number for navman, phoned them up, finally got through to someone and outlined my problem. The responce I got? Disable your firewall and anti-virus software.
I hang up, do as told, now it works perfectly! Dont ask me why I need to disable my firewall to transfer files from my computer to a device plugged into the USB port, but I do. What a farce.
Anyway its all working now and I wanted to thank everyone here for all their help, suggestions, and the nice chap who sent me an email. You all rock. |

Wow!
Glad you got it all sorted.
I never thought of the firewall. I will remember that one. _________________ Navman ICN 520

Hi Icky.
That's weird.
I didn't have to disable my firewall, which is why I never gave it a thought.
Gald you're sorted.
