Commence wracking.

All is good regarding synchronizing and the UK is yellow and uploaded.

It seems to me that you get the error message at the moment the software starts to write to the SD card.

Have you checked to see if the SD card has a write protect switch?

That may be the problem.

Surely if it had a write protect switch I wouldnt be able to write the map data to it as well as the POI data?

There is however no switch on it. I cant see how it can be the SD card at fault, as I'm able to upload the map data to it.

OK, SD card faults eliminated.

I went back through some threads and found.....

Quote:
..sometimes when you try to load poi's or manipulate the maps in some way it leaves a ghost of the maps on the card giving the impression that there is no room on the card. You need a fresh install of the maps by clearing the old ones off and replacing with a fresh install, this should sort it.

How can I be sure to completely remove all traces of data from the SD card? Should I delete all the files from within windows and then plug the unit in and start the update?

I've not done this myself.

The handbook suggests using SmartST desktop. Once the unit has synchronised with SmartST, click on ICN tab --> Maps on ICN
Click maps to be removed, select Remove from ICN.

Once they have all gone then re-install the maps you need from the CD

Still says "No Storage Available On Device". I checked and after reinstalling all the UK maps I have 82Mb free. Could it possibly be the choice of bmp for the image? I'm selecting the ov2 bitmap file.

Its quite baffling that the maps went on and off OK, but the safety camera POI is so obstinate.

Maybe try to load a different POI file, perhaps from

http://www.getoutguide.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/poidownloads/

Why it should be any better I don't know, I'm really just grasping at straws to try to help.

Nope I tried to install the Bella Pasta POI file, and the exact same thing happened.

Whats the verdict people, have I got a defective unit?

Now here's an oddity.

I tried an upgrade of my Microsoft ActiveSync from v3.7.1 supplied by Navman to V4.1 supplied from the Microsoft web site.

When I tried to load a POI file, I was greeted by the message 1kb memory remaining. I know that I have about 90 Mb free.

I am heading back to v3.7.1 of ActiveSync!

Are you using the version of ActiveSync that came with your Navman or a different one?

I have completely exhausted my supply of straws to grasp at.

Its puzzling that you can remove and reinstate maps, that all other functions are apparently OK and that the POI fils are the only problem. It does not look as if you have a faulty unit.

I shot an email over to Navman tech support with a link to this thread yesterday, but I havent had a reply back from them yet.

I want to say thanks for all the help from everyone. I must admit though I'm extremely annoyed with the unit at the moment though. I might wipe it and take it back to Halfords.

I can understand your frustration and sympathise.

Perhaps a return to the retailer will be your only option.
