Question?, being new to the world of tom toms, and gps etc, I was at Snowdonia National Park at weekend, and in one of the local shops was introduced to Garman units for navigation, I wonder if there could ever be software developed for the Tom Tom One, being slimmer than earlier Units made by Tom Tom, for navigation off Road, I presume Tom Tom One does only show where you are on a Road, please correct me if im wrong, And I know the batteries only last a short while, 2 hours i believe, but solar panels can be purchased to recharge small units. If you could go off road, we might all take to walking as well as driving, not a bad idea, comments please, newbie Tom Tom One user.

As you probably saw with the Garmin units, they are far superior to the TomTom when out of the car. The Quest, for example is a decent unit for car use but it is also waterproof, 18 hour battery, rugged, optional marine (and soon) UK topo maps as well as having "off road" navigation modes with settings to make it useful when walking, on boats or in planes.
That adds up to a lot of features that Tom Tom would have to add. Anything is possible, but my impression is that TomTom are primarily a unit for use in a vehicle.
Given that the vehicle sat nav market is growing at an explosive rate, I don't think TomTom will see off road features as a priority and will probably leave this market to Garmin. _________________ Gone fishing!
Cheers For Reply, It would be nice though, Just got my tom tom one back from the makers after messing up my software, backed up this time, before applying poi's etc,
