Hi all,
Just got the bits for TMC and am getting the receiving signal but no messages. Have programmed many trips all over Uk, can it be when I am looking for a holdup there is not one or am I missing something? Cheers john. |

Do you have reflective glass on your car, and are you using the internal antenna? Is your device set up to automatically tune in the TMC signal?
It sounds like the radio signal isn't making it through. You should be receiving all of the broadcast TMC messages, even if they don't influence your route. Make sure your device is tuning to Classic FM.
Try this experiment -- try to get the TMC signal when you're outside your car. I generally pick up 20+ TMC messages within 2-3 minutes of turning on my device.
Hope this helps. |

Hi Matthew, Thanks for reponse. No I don't have reflective glass and I do use an internal antenna. TMC is set to auto and classic set to hold. I have got full radio signal yet no reports. Did you get sofware with yours? Regards John |

No software with mine -- just the small black box with the USB-type connection at one end, cigarette lighter at the other, and a copper-wire antenna that plugs into it. Here's a picture of it:
TMC Antenna
Mine's quite fussy about picking up a signal -- if I simply trail the antenna across the seat, I don't get a signal. But if I run it up the dashboard, straight up the middle of the windscreen, then along the top of the windscreen (tucked behind the sun visor) I get a decent signal about 75% of the time, although there are definitely still some blackspots. A more elegant (albeit more expensive) solution would be to permanently take a feed off the in-car antenna -- but find out if your device is working properly first!
Sorry I can't offer more help, but I still think it sounds like a reception issue. If memory serves, there's a TMC setup screen in the 'preferences' area that lets you set some options as well -- maybe worth double-checking those settings as well? |
