I have just purchased an I3 and was wondering if I can view the route detail and Maps from my PC (similar to the route detail for say maps.google). |

Hmmm - I don't think so - but what you can do is to use the i3 to supply NMEA-compliant GPS data to a PC via its USB port (and the standard supplied USB cable), using the Franson GpsGate Express application ($9.95).
I use my i3 to 'drive' MS AutoRoute 2005 in this way.
So - the i3 doesn't generate the route for the PC - just indicates where you are - so you effectively use AutoRoute to generate the route - then watch the i3 showing you following it (i3 will be in Show Map' mode...)

Thanks. Is there a free alternative to autoroute - if I have to spend more money on utilities the finacial reviewer won't be so happy with my bargin! |

Yes - and yes - you can acquire it from their website for $9.95 (about £6?) and stop being such a tightwad! It's brilliant value for money 8)

Have just been trying out this software see picture of the output from GPSGATE to VISUAL GPSXP.
I have tried this and other software program's all will not display the satellites locked on to or their strength.
Has anyone else managed to obtain this data.

Just tried it out on Autoroute 2005 works ok, I removed Navigator (voice navigation software) from my laptop (used prior to getting the I3) so unable to test but see no reason why it should not work also.

Easygps implies it can download routes - whether that would work when you've interfaced with the i3 whilst it has a route planned and then download it to your PC, I'm not sure, because I've never tried.
But it's worth at least trying, if it interests you. |

I think the new version of AutoRoute can produce a trace of a route you've driven.... Now using Franson GPS Gate with the i£ in simulation mode might produce a trace?? Don't know because I don't have AR 2006 or GPS Gate, also it would take a while as simulation mode isn't much faster than driving the route itself.
Can anyone with GPS Gate and AutoRoute (you don't need 2006) confirm that your position is plotted in simulation mode? _________________ Chas

Garmin I3 can't download a route using EasyGPS or any other software that i am aware of. I have been in contact via email with Support at Easygps overnight and because the I3 can't save a route easygps has nothing to read from the unit.
I was hoping that having created and started the navigation on the I3 this route could be read
While checking the software found a bug with Easygps ver 2.0.2 which will be fixed in the next release selecting Display GPS Information crashes the software this was not present in the previous release.
