Has anyone else had a problem with the 'demonstrate route' on the 520?
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Unless I am doing something really stupid of course (possible). Any ideas?

Hi,
I`ve used the demonstrate on my 520 a few times without any problem, remembering of course to switch it off again..
What sort of probs are you having? |

Hi,
Saw this thread on 'Demonstrate mode'. Only had my 520 for a week and thought this mode was best for checking out a route recommended by the 520 i.e from A - B. If A - B is say, a 5 hour journey, what possible use is Demonstrate Mode? Am I expected to sit and watch it demonstrate the route for 5 hours!?
I did use it to test if the speed cameras were operating on it, but only selected a 5 min route.
Am I missing something here? Is Route Demonstrator any use?
Still got lots to learn, but with a 920mile journey coming up on Sat from Brittany, France to Berlin guess I'm going to find a few things out!!
Regards,

Hi Bob,
Demonstrator mode should run through your route at a constant 62mph. It is intended to demonstrate the route selected, and then allows you to tweak the route to suit your preference, and then you can avoid certain blackspots and bottle necks etc.
I have to admit, it was only useful on a handful of occassions, but did eduacate me not to trust the route selected by default, as by tweaking I saved 50 plus miles each way, on journey to wales it wanted me to follow. |

I would agree that demonstrate route is not of much practical use. More useful is that after the route is calculated press the centre of the bottom tool bar. You get a menu with the item, route information. Choose that and a number of options appear. They allow you to show the route on a map and zoom in to check it out. They also allow you to view a turn by turn instruction list. One other minor point is that I have found if I set all the route preference sliders to the middle of the bar graph the 520 seems to choose pretty much the same routing as I get on line as Multimap. I used Multimap in the past and found it be good, so that is where I have left my settings.
