Streetpilot 2720 mounting

I have just bought the above unit and need to mount it on my Triumph Sprint ST (2006 model).

Any help regarding mounts would be welcome, thanks

Thanks for that - Triumph dealership have now sourced the correct ine for the bike + power connections etc. Love the unit - got it about 2 hours ago and already have a load more POI's + camera database on there. Very quick to find things like ATM's and petrol stations compared to my Navman PiN570!

I am considering buying a 2720 and fitting to an 06 Sprint. Could you outlin how the unit fitted to the bike. I am not sure whether to buy the Triumph kit, Garmin kit or a Ram-mount.

Well, a dimema has occurred since my last post.
I got Triumph to supply and fit their 'kit' for the 2610/2720 which thery duly did. However, although it shows the actual mount for the 2720 on their parts listing it doesn't come with the kit (which is £199 incl fitting). So I was, to say the least, not pleased. After a lot of phoning around to Triumph (sorry we can't get that bit) and to Garmin (oh yes they can...) my saleslady at 3X (Hilary) has got one for me. So, I have a complete 'kit' now but be aware!!

Then.......I went to the Autosport Show and found the Garmin stand.....and the new Nuvi350 - !!
Although its not waterproof, it does everything the 2720 does (except a couple of things which are not that important in the big scheme of things) + it has the book player, MP3, travel guides etc. etc. - so I bought one of those too! I am going to use a RAM kit to mount that on the bike when I get it so watch this space.

Well I have got a dilema now!

I can see the feature advantages of the Nuvi but how will you overcome the lack of waterproofing?

I take it that that price included fitting ,if not its damn expensive

My fitting was Garmin kit for bike £30, ram mount £30 and powerlet connection £21 (this last one was already fitted and I decided to use it rather than hard wire to battery for the moment and 2hrs fitting it for me

Yes it did include the fitting and special wiring loom for the bike. As to waterproofing - I'll use the 2720 if it starts raining, otherwise I might find some kind of waterproof casing.

An ingeneous mounting bracket like this would possibly negate the need for waterproofing?

I dont know about it negating the need for waterproofing ,twice in the last year I have got caught in torrential downpours and both times the rain wriggled its way in everywhere, last time 5 minutes from home after riding for one and a half hours in p*ssing rain I suddenly got what everyone dreads ,a very cold and damp crutch. It had managed to find its way through 3 winter layers including one of those magic materials that let you breath but dont let water in (HUH)
