Congratulations on your i3 purchase…now , no doubt you have questions about how to use and what the functions are of this gps….nearly all these questions have been already answered in previous threads…spend a little time and have a good read of these very informative posts especially the ‘GARMIN STREETPILOT I3 FOR DUMMIES’ sticky at the top of the forum list…if then you cant find your answer , please post your question and we will all try to answer it…. _________________ *************************** |

Couldn't agree more with what Zogman is saying, the amount of repeat questions on this part of the forum is getting silly now, most of the questions that are being asked have been answered somewhere within the last few pages, i'm not trying to be funny with anyone but you could save yourself having to keep asking by just doing a search back 2 or 3 pages. 8) _________________ Garmin Streetpilot i3,

Hi MaFt
The whole forum does, the FAQs are not always specific to Garmin users. Loads of TomTom users ask the same "why does my GPS read slower than my speedo" question, for example.
Can I request that we start a discussion thread for the sticky and a moderator can pick over the bones of the discussion and add it to the sticky post rather than PM'ing you?
Or better still, let's have each FAQ answer linking to a discussion topic where people can discuss the gorey detail of the answer.
Suggestions for additions to the FAQ:
Q. My GPS shows a different speed than my speedo, which one is correct?
A. When travelling on flat ground at a constant speed, the GPS is correct and your speedo is reading too fast. For a detailed discussion see this thread.
Q. Why doesn't my brand new GPS get a satellite lock? or
Q. Why doesn't my GPS get a satellite lock after I upgraded the firmware/cleared all user data.
A. If you are outside and you have a good view of the sky then the unit unit may have no satellite ephemeris / almanac data or the data was wiped after a reset or firmware update.
Take the StreetPilot to a place with a good view of the sky and not obstructed by too many buildings/trees etc. Large outdoor carparks, hilltops or your back garden are good places to try. Don't move the StreetPilot while it downloads the data. _________________ Gone fishing! |

I should have said that this could take anything up to an hour or more. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Would it not be simpler stick this can keep bumping?
Also, I agree with you all.
Even though I have few posts here, I use forums a lot and there is nothing more annoying than people who wont even TRY and search!! |

the trouble is MaFt that so many newbies (and experienced) peeps are asking the same questions over and over again ...if they did read the dummies guide the problem would be solved ,but they dont...... _________________ *************************** |
