Best PDA with in-built GPS + 802.11g?

Hi,

I am looking to replace my loox 600 and old emtac Bluetooth GPS with a new PDA with in-built GPS and 802.11g. Blue tooth would be nice but not essential.

I was looking at the new Loox N520 but read the reception doesn't hold up to other SiRFStarIII GPS chipset GPS modules.

Maybe the Mitac? I am put off by the GPS antenna being an appendage that might get in the way of the mounting.

There are a couple more PDAs floating around, any news of up and coming PDAs that will be better?

Has anyone got first hand experience of any of these new PDAs?

Once again it has an antenna on a swing arm.

I would say the ipaq HX4700 using the tomtom 5 software

On it's 4" vga screen its graphics are perfect and with bluetooth and wifi as standard, I have owned one for several years(alaong with all the others!)

Ok they are pricey, but windows mobile 5 is out in 3 wweks for it as an upgrade

The Mitac Mio A201 is a great PDA with built in GPS and Bluetooth.

Another to consider is the Holux GPSmile 60. Built in GPS but not Bluetooth.

thanks for the info. I will keep with the old loox 600 and bluetooth GPS for a little while and see what else comes up.

Looking at your original post, it might be some time before such a device actually hits the streets, PDA's normally only have WIFI 802.11b not the faster G speed that you want, whilst the two standards can operate together it will default to the lower speed - Mike

The n520 has 802.11g, I just wanted the GPS signal to be a bit better.

The Fujitsu N520 is a top PDA but I think its a bit slower on the processing side. This I think is the only PDA with 802.11g mark on it. The rest are all 802.11b. That is a big difference when connecting to the internet and fetching pages.

Builtin GPS is another big saver in space saving. I am not really much bothered about the bluetooth functionality as one can live without it.

My only question is the speed of this device. You can get a Dell Axim 624 mhz for around £262 with built in Bluetooth and Wifi 802.11b -

Again its a very difficult situation to compromise. On Dell you get the processor speed with Bluetooth and Wifi but slower speed. On Fujitsu, you get the Faster Wifi, Built in GPS but half the processor speed but price is nearly the same.

Tricky when choosing which one to go for. both

OR A Trade in
no wifi, but you dont need it as its a phone and supports GPRS,GSM,EDGE and has built in sat receiver

you will not get a new one at this price anywhere!!!!
