I was just driving around New England thinking how good my Garmin Quest was when it decided it didn't want to acquire satellites any more.
I've tried resetting it and updating the firmware without luck. Anyone got any suggestions before I send it back to Garmin? It's about 4 months old and I've used it successfully in the UK and NE USA. |

Ug. That's not good.
How long have you waited for it to get a fix? It might have lost all it's satellite data. Go Menu-Menu-GPS Info.
Does it say "Aquiring Satellites"?
Are the sats all scattered around in the status screen (normal) or all piled on top of each other (sat data lost) ?
Try taking it somewhere that it has a good view of the sky and don't move it for about an hour (or until it gets a fix).
Good luck! _________________ Gone fishing! |

can you get a satellite lock, when outside the car? This would tell you if the athermic windscreen or something else in the car is causing interference. |

Thanks for the replies. I've had it outside the car under a beautiful clear Connecticut sky and left it on for hours. It says it's acquiring satellites but there is no signal strength showing on any of the meters on the gps info page. I've seen that page both with satellites scattered about and all piled up following a reset. |

Sorry mate, you have tried everything I can think of - I think it's broken and you will have to speak to Garmin about getting it fixed/replaced. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Just an update. As suggested I sent it off to those nice Garmin people who sent me a new unit by return post. 10/10 for customer service. |

I think mine's dead too! Kept losing the satellite reception all the back from Bath to up North on the M5 today. Tried various 'solutions': master reset, re-installing the latest firmware, to no avail. Sometimes when I boot it up, it finds a signal and locks on to the satellites, but only for a couple of minutes and sometimes it won't find any signals at all. It is currently in the garden with a clear view of the sky, where I'm going to leave it for an hour or so and see if it comes back to life. It's 18 months old, so hopefully Garmin will be as good to me as they were to you. |

Yeah, Garmin are great! They agreed to repair or replace my Nuvi 660 even though it was two months out of warranty. Result: they sent me a reconditioned Nuvi 670 within 7 days of receiving my 660. When I registered it on their site I was even given a link to download the 2008 maps for free! My 660 was too old to qualify for the free map update. Superb customer service. What a refreshing change. Thanks Garmin. |
