|
|
Hi. Another newbie here, and I am hoping for your help.
I have read through all your advice sheets for installing the camera database into my new TomTom One and appear to have done everything as suggested. But when I turn my TT on, I get a picture of the SD card coming out of the unit and crossed through with a red cross.
I obviously must have done something wrong, but I have no idea what. Can anybody advise me please?
I backed up my original 128mb card. I then transferred that information to a new 256mb card and then added the camera information ov2 and bmp files to the Great Britain map folder.
Really hope someone can help please, cos I am stumped Thanks. |

Hi anothernewbie,
to the forum!
Sounds like you’ve done everything correct.
What happens if you place the original 128MB SD card back into the TomTom ONE? Does it work? If so the problem is with the 256MB card.
Did you copy all files and folders including any hidden ones to the new card?

Hi Robert and thanks for the welcome.
If I put my original card back in, everything works.
I would say that the 256mb card had originally been loaded with the safety camera database by my b-i-law, using his own TomTom unit. I was having problems with it, with the voice sometimes not telling me where to go, and sometimes the warning for a speed camera not activating audibly. So I thought I'd reformat it and put my own card info on it and then add the camera database.
Could it be that I have a corrupt 256mb card then?
Thanks for the help. |

Oh, and I meant to add, that as far as I'm aware I did transfer all the hidden files as well. (Tools/Folder Options/View Show hidden files and folders. |

Hi anothernewbie,
OK, so we know that your original TomTom ONE SD is OK – that’s a relief.

You may have a corrupt 256MB SD card, however you may have formatted it wrongly. I’m afraid that I don’t know the best format for a ONE SD card, because if it isn’t broken – I don’t fix it! However I’m sure other will be able to advise.
You may want to reformat the 256MB card again and just copy the entire contents of the original TomTom ONE SD to the 256MB card. Give it a try first, and if it then works try adding the extra stuff.

I tried the above, but it still wouldn't work. Also, when I tried to do a restore via the CD with the 256mb card it said I didn't have a backup to restore. I did make a backup of the 128mb card and that is on my PC, so I don't know why it doesn't find it.
Perhaps I should buy a new 256 card and try that?
Thanks for the help.

Hi anothernewbie,
Have you copied the entire contents of the TomTom ONE 128MB SD card to a new folder on your PC, and then copied the contents of that folder to the empty 256MB SD card?

If the above doesn't help then you may need to try another new SD Card.
By the way, what is the make and model of your 256MB SD card?

Aha! I think that's what I've done wrong. Actually, I KNOW that's what I've done wrong now! The optimum words being "copy the entire contents". I wasn't copying the files that were in the TomTom main folder. No wonder it wouldn't work!
Thanks Robert for all your help and perseverance. I now appear to have a working 256 card and TomTom One!. :D I shall have to test it properly tomorrow!
For the record the make of the 256mb card is Dane-Elec (?). But obviously it wasn't at fault, it was me.
